Today, John took Orion, Sally and Sheba to Kerrville to get health certificates, so we can fly them up to Chicago on Saturday, so they can get adopted out to great homes! Well, it is good that I didn’t call Continental Airlines, because this afternoon around 3:30—Stacie, a vet tech at Hoegemeyer’s Animal Clinic, called—wanting to adopt Sally and take her home! She had fallen in love with her today, and she was thrilled when I told her that she could adopt Sally!
Twenty minutes later, our great neighbors, Sherry and Robert, called to ask us if we were missing any dogs, because Sherry had just picked up one, down at the creek. I told Sherry that we weren’t missing any dogs, but we would come over to check out the dog.
When we arrived at their ranch, they were outside waiting for us. When we got out of Buttermilk, Sherry pointed to the back of their pickup and up popped a head—a redhead with a long tail wagging happily! She was adorable! We went over to the tailgate of the truck, and she jumped up and kissed Tony and me! She was young, had no collar and most likely had been dumped out here by some creep. “We’ll take her,” Tony said. “We just had Sally get adopted, so we have room for her.”
Robert and Sherry were delighted, because they already have six dogs, that they have rescued, including two new kittens. Tony loaded up the young female pup into a crate in the back of the Explorer, and then we headed home. By the time we arrived at the rescue ranch, she had a name. We named her Alice In Wonderland, and tomorrow she will be going to Hoegemeyers for shots and to be spayed! She is so sweet, but difficult to photograph! I took 8 pictures of her and this is the best one that I could get—she was too happy!
When we came inside our trailer, I phoned Kinky’s cell, because he was in San Antonio, waiting to go to the premiering of that movie he was in, where he played the Governor of Texas in the 1890’s! The name of the movie is “Palo Pinto Gold,” and I can’t wait to see it!

Alice is adorable and so lucky to be found.
Hellooo, Nancy and Tony. I am missing you and the pups very much, bunches. I'm thinking of sending a sock by mail for John to give the pups as a way of saying hey--one I've worn...well, maybe just on my hand! I've had many challenges in the past coupla weeks, am in 4 wheel drive mode. But am awful glad to see things going right with you and the beautiful sweet redhead Alice.
Much love,
Paula
Hi Nancy! I had to put my trusty search engine to work looking for Palo Pinto Gold (which, by the way, was 'THE' TALK at dog agility trials in Katy way back in January)! I found a few items on the movie, including this trailer, which includes a glimpse of Kinky in his Texas governor clothes!

We NoMads are going to start phoning the local theaters - if they don't already have plans to do so - to ask them to bring this movie to Kerrville SOON!
Maybe we'll see you and Tony there?
