I Am A Major Fan Of Jon Favreau!

Today has been great and so was yesterday, because Burma called me to give me an update on Katee Sackhoff. She told me that they added a middle name for Katee and her new name is Katee-Sioux Sackhoff, because Randy is a Sioux. She also told me that Katee-Sioux has stolen their hearts and she is one super dog and all of their dogs love Katee. And here's a picture  she took of Katee-Sioux.

Last night I watched the movie Burnt, another movie about life, chefs and cooking. It was good, but still my top two favorite movies about cooking are still Julie & Julia and Chef, starring Jon Favreau, because they both inspired me to try new recipes.

The movie, Julie & Julia, and my dear friend Cindy inspired me to make Julia Child's delicious Chicken and Mushrooms with Cream Sauce, that I serve with oven roasted asparagus, as Julia Child suggests, in her cookbook Mastering the Art of French Cooking. And I am so glad that I did, because it is now both Tony's and my favorite dish.

I am a major fan of Jon Favreau, because he is a multi-talented Libra and a genius, because he wrote, starred in, directed and co-produced the fabulous movie, Chef. That our good friend and actor, Jay Pennington, got to be an extra in—playing a cowboy. 

I really love the movie Chef, because it is such a fun movie to watch. The cast of actors starring in this movie could not have been better selected for their roles. Anyway, last week, because of this delightful movie, I tried making Choi's signature Mojo Pork Cubano sandwiches, from the film, and it was totally delicious, too. And here's a link to this incredibly delicious recipe.

So last night, after watching Burnt, I went into our bedroom to get something and I caught Henry Standing Bear doing another one of his down-unders. So I grabbed my camera and seconds later, I snapped this funny picture of him, just before Little Debbie and I watched him crawl out from underneath the dresser.

After I took Henry's picture, I started Googling Egg Benedict recipes, because a few days ago, Cindy had suggested that I try making Julia Child's Hollandaise Sauce, found on page 79, in her cookbook. 

So this morning for Tony's breakfast, I surprised him and made Julia's delicious Hollandaise Sauce recipe and served him my version of eggs benedict: which is a half of a buttered muffin, topped with Canadian bacon, a fried egg (Yes, I know it is supposed to be poached, but Tony doesn't like poached eggs.) with Julia's easy to make, delicious Hollandaise Sauce. And needless to say, "He loved that, too."

In just a few hours from now, Tony and I will be taking Henry Standing Bear to his final Clicker-Training class, in Kerrville. So I am going to finish writing this and post it, because I need to go cook us lunch and then do some Clicker-Training homework with Henry.

Who Knows?!

Today has been great and it rained again, this morning, so we still haven't done any mowing or weed-eating yet. Who knows? Maybe we can start cutting down the tall grass and weeds tomorrow.

Yesterday, a very dear friend of mine, in Utopia, called me and she sent me an urgent, heartbreaking e-mail about not wanting to, but having to give up one of her and husband's precious dogs due to circumstances beyond their control and that is all that I'm going to say about it. She sent pictures of Lola too, and this is just a portion of the sad e-mail she sent to me:

"Lola is a sweetheart.  She loves to just sit and cuddle with you. She walks on a leash well and she would be easily adoptable. She has all her shots and has been spayed."

Tony and I love these friends so much that we always include them in our daily prayers. We wanted to help them, so yesterday, after Katee Sackhoff's surprise super adoption, I called our friend and told her that we could take Lola.

So this morning our heartbroken friend brought Lola to our rescue ranch and Tony put Lola, in Katee's vacant pen. Then our sad friend came up to The Cabin, because she wanted to talk to me and give me all of Lola's records.

As we drank coffee together, in the kitchen, she teared up several times as we talked about sweet Lola. So I kept looking up towards the ceiling, so I wouldn't tear up, too or quite possibly find another visiting Bat, that had attached itself to the ceiling beam. 

In case you didn't know this—if you are trying not to cry you should always look upwards, because it stops you from tearing up and it always works for me. Luckily, I didn't discover a Bat and I didn't tear up. Anyway, before we adios-ed our dear friend, she told me that Lola is only two-years-old and that she had a gift for me.

After she drove away, I opened up the pretty sack and read her beautiful, handwritten card, with a donation included, so I looked down and let my tears finally fall. Then I reached back inside the sack and there was this beautiful, floating/moving angel attached by a spring, to an engraved rock. And to say the least, I love her gift.

Then a couple of hours later, there was another gift for me, that came in our mail. My dear friends that are hiking the Appalachian Trail sent me this T-shirt and I absolutely love it! And I'm going to wear it with pride. "Thank Y'all!"

So I laid it, on top of our bed, so I could take a picture of it for my blog tonight and when I came back seconds later, to take the picture—this is what I saw. 

So, I patted Henry Standing Bear, on the head and then removed my T-shirt from the bed. Then I took my super-cool T-shirt and put it, on top of our branded coffee table, so I could take a picture of the back of it, without Henry hamming it up.

I love that it says in big lettering "I've Hiked the Entire APPALACHIAN TRAIL" and if you can read between the lines, in much smaller letters is "WIDTH OF THE"! Talk about a perfect T-shirt for me to wear, because that is exactly what I plan to do when I finally do hit that trail and get a real picture taken of me that has not been Photo shopped. Like the funny ones that I Photo shopped, a while back, on January 29, 2015. 

As I finish writing this for tonight, I want you to know that I love reading Craig A. Johnson's fabulous book The Highwayman that Kris & Jim gave to us yesterday. And now that I've thought and written about it—I think that picture I took of Henry Standing Bear, laying on top of my brand new T-shirt is a sign to let me know that Henry Standing Bear wants to walk the Appalachian Trail with me. Who knows? Maybe they will allow Henry to walk the entire width of the Appalachian Trail with me?

Another Longmire Connection!

Today has been great and also the last few days. This past Wednesday, our dear friends Jim Keaveny and his sweet wife, Anna Oakley, and Tobu, their super smart dog, came to visit us and spend the night, in my pretty, pink, writing cabin. And even though we had thunderstorms, for most of their visit, we had a wonderful time with them.

Today we met our great friends/volunteers, at Fuddruckers, in Kerrville, to celebrate Ellen's and Lisa's birthdays. As we ate our lunch, Ellen and Lisa passed around their hilarious birthday cards and because the cards kept us laughing, it took us a long time to finish eating our food.

June brought a beautiful, Creative Cakes By Sharon, birthday cake. And the delicious cake was divided by a thick row of chocolate frosting. One side, written in pink frosting, were the words, "Happy Birthday Ellen!" and the other half of the cake was written in lavender frosting, were the words, "Happy Birthday Lisa!" And needless to say, Tony and I had a blast with our friends and it will be a birthday party to be remembered, unless of course I forget, which seems to be happening fairly often these days.

After the fun birthday party, I asked Lisa, Eileen and Kris & Jim to follow me, in the parking lot, to Buttermilk, because I had something I wanted to give to them. And Jim says, "Nancy, we've got something we want to give to y'all, too."

"Oh my goodness, Jim!" I said. "Does it have something to do with Longmire?"

Jim tilted his head sideways, and said. "Well, yes. Why?"

"Oh dear," I said. "Because last Friday Eileen gave me the coolest tray with our cast and crew's picture on it and I absolutely love it, but I had to tell her that I had sort of  come up with the same idea, because I had already ordered 10 posters of that picture to give away to the cast and crew of Longmire—Texas Style, except the picture that I used didn't show the Grey Goose Saloon sign, in it like Eileen's did. Did you make prints, too?"

"No, not exactly," Jim replied. It's something else." When we got to Buttermilk I quickly handed Eileen, Lisa and Kris & Jim a poster and they seemed to love it and that made me feel good. Then after we adios-ed Lisa and Eileen and they walked away, Jim said, "Kris and I got this for y'all. And it's only been out for two days. Hot off of the press, so to speak." Here's a picture of Eileen's one of a kind tray and the poster that Tony I gave to our friends.

Oh, and that's my Rolling Thunder Ranch brand, that I designed and then burned into the wood, on the upper left hand corner of our coffee table. The beautiful coffee table that Tony made for me over twenty years ago. And here is the 1st edition book, that that Kris & Jim gave to us. That Tony said I could get to read first!

Late this afternoon we had another Longmire Connection. Randy & Burma came out to meet Katee Sackhoff, because they were pretty sure that they wanted to adopt her and add her to their family.

While they were petting Katee, Burma told me that when she saw Katee's picture and read her story, that Judith Pannebaker, had kindly published, in last weeks Bandera County Courier newspaper, she knew that they had to adopt her. And they loved Katee Sackhoff's name and are not going to change it, because they too, are big time fans of Longmire and the beautiful actress that plays Vic. 

Tony and I really liked Burma and Randy from the git-go, but not as much as Katee already loved them and they already loved Katee. And here is a picture I took of Katee with her new, awesome family.

This evening I received an e-mail from Kinky's friend, who is touring with him, in Europe. It read:

"Hey Nancy, we have a message from the great man for you: Thanks for checking on the lodge for me. Will see you guys on the 25th, late. Then I'm back for good. I'm never leaving again. Love, Kinky"

So, I immediately shot this back to Kinky, via his friend:

"I'm never leaving again." Famous last words ; )  or is this a threat?....

Please tell Kinky that it is no big deal. Bob left today and The Friedmans are doing just fine. It has been raining at least every other day for several weeks. The creeks are over-flowing and the grass, weeds and thistle make it look like a jungle out here. So don't be shocked if you can't see The Lodge when you drive in, because it's there. It is just being hidden by the tall thistle, weeds and grass. And the rescue ranch looks like a jungle, too. I send my best to y'all. Take care and keep on laughing..."

As I finish writing this tonight, I want you to know that as I am typing this, Henry Standing Bear (another Longmire connection) is snoring loudly, underneath our bed and that I am fixin' to start reading Craig Johnson's The Highwayman! Longmire Rules Big Time!

General Grant!

Today has been great, even though we've been busy running errands today. This morning after Tony did the chores outside and I had caught up with the rescue ranch paperwork, we caravan-ed to Kerrville.

Trigger and I followed Tony and Buttermilk, to Balser's Northside Automotive, in Kerrville, because Buttermilk needed a tune-up, oil change, etc.

After we dropped off Buttermilk, we walked across the parking lot and ate a quick lunch special, at the Acapulco restaurant and it was delicious. Then we went to Walmart, J.C. Penney and lastly the Post Office. Then we came back home.

When we got home I went over to Kinky's to visit with him, author Mary Lou Sullivan and his old friend Russ, who are both visiting him. Mary Lou is here to do more research for her authorized Kinky biography that she is writing and Russ is here to visit with his dear friend Kinky and Tony and me. (And rumor has it that Russ is seriously thinking about adopting our sweet Katee Sackhoff, who is only two-years-old. So please keep your fingers crossed for her.)

While I was over at the Lodge, Kinky showed me this beautiful, framed, photo that was given to him when he was up in Fort Worth, last week. "Nance, Spanky McFarland's son gave me this framed picture of Spanky and it is signed by Spanky..."

I loved it, because it was the cutest picture of Spanky, when he was a child actor, sitting next to another actor, whom I did not recognize. And because the picture of Spanky was given as a personal gift to Kinky, I only took a picture of Spanky's signature to show it to you.

Then Russ, Kinky and I started trying to remember the names of the four main characters that starred in the 1930's-1940's Our Gang also known as The Little Rascals. And I got all four names first, including Petey's name, the famous dog that had a magic marker circle around one eye.

When I got back home, I quickly did a little research about Petey and I found out that Petey's grave is famous and it is located, in Silver Spring Maryland. And the dog's real name wasn't Petey. It was General Grant of R.K.O. or Jiggs and his sun sign was Cancer, born in 1928 and died in 1938.

I loved Petey so much, in fact, every time that he appeared in a Little Rascals episode, I'd always wish that he was my dog, even though I loved Tuffy, our family Blue Heeler mutt who actually taught me how to walk, by letting me hold on to his short, crooked tail. And I am sure that there are many others who also felt the same way that I did about Petey, because he was so sweet and so smart.

Life Is Good!

Today has been great and I am celebrating tonight, because Tony and I are finally doing much better health wise! It was one week ago today, with Mercury in retrograde, when my back went out on me and Tony and I were suffering from severe cases of cedar fever.

We stocked up and went through 8 boxes of Kleenex, cough syrups, heat wraps, etc. and we didn't get any better until yesterday, after we went to Kerrville to buy Tony some maximum strength Mucinex DM, that Carol had highly recommended we get for his horrible chest congestion.

Fortunately, I didn't need to use the over-the-counter Mucinex DM pills, because my cedar fever symptoms had pretty much gone away, early Sunday evening.

Yesterday afternoon, as Tony's constant coughing began to slow down, I rested on our bed, with our dogs and used our heating pad twice, for one hour heat treatments and it did the trick.

When I woke up this morning to do the Utopia Animal Rescue Ranch segment with Big G, on the radio, Tony was no longer coughing and my back hardly ached at all! So the only exciting news I have to tell you is life is good, once again. And I am so thankful to Carol for suggesting Tony use Mucinex DM, because he has only coughed ten times today.

Wait! I have lied. There is a really exciting thing that did happen today. I got a phone message from Janette, the super, sweet woman that adopted Katee Sackhoff from us. She said, "Katee is the sweetest dog and she is working out great with our older dog. We love her...." And hearing the great news about Katee made my day and that is about it for tonight.

Forrest Gump!

Today has been great, even though I have cedar fever really bad. This morning at 7:45, I called into The REV and  did The Harley Show with our good friend Harley Belew. We first talked about us both having cedar fever and then I told him that Forrest Gump was Harley's Pet Of The Week.

Week Gump, I mean Forrest Gump is one super great dog! He is great with other dogs, he is not a digger, climber and he isn't hyper. Gump is approximately 2 years old and everyone at the rescue ranch has fallen in love him. We believe that this special dog is a Beagle/Heeler mix and that is why he is so smart. And on top of that he is house broken, too! So if you are looking for one the coolest dogs in Texas, come on out and adopt this fabulous canine. We promise that he will steal your heart and keep a smile on your face.

Today, as earlier planned, my dear friend Mari and I are doing a three day juice fast together. I am especially excited about doing it now, because of my severe cedar fever, because I know that the powerful nutritious juices will help my immune system fight it.  

After doing Harley's radio show this morning I made my first juice to kick off our juice fast. Here is a list of the ingredients I used for my morning delicious juice: Chia seeds, almonds & pumpkin seed mix, power greens, cucumber, beet, carrot, celery, apple, pear and mixed frozen fruit (peaches, strawberries, cantaloupe, pineapple and grapes). It was totally delicious and I drank two full glasses of it.

When Tony came home, I made him the exact same juice. Then we went outside to feed the dogs and clean their pens. And the only dog that we did not feed was sweet Katee Sackhoff.

Around 11:00, as also planned—Janette arrived with her little, cute, 14 year old dog named Amber. Janette was hoping to adopt Katee Sackhoff from us, but she had to make sure that Amber would get along with Katee and that Katee would not be too rough with Amber, because Amber has back issues. 

So, Tony put a leash on Katee for me and then Janette and I took off walking Amber and Ms. Sackhoff down to the creek. The dogs got along great together and thirty minutes later, Janettte adopted Katee! So, everyone please keep your fingers crossed for Katee that she doesn't play too rough with Amber and that her adoption sticks. 

After we adopted Katee, we came back inside The Cabin. My eyes and my nose were watering and I was coughing so hard that it hurt. So around 12:30, Tony and I took off for Kerrville, so I could buy some over the counter nasal spray, etc. at Walgreens, go by Next Generation Produce to drink more healthy juice. 

After I purchased a 4 pack of Kleenex, Flonase, Burt's Bees Honey Menthol & Eucalyptus Oil throat drops and NyQuil we went to The Next Generation Produce. And on our way over there I used the Flonase Allergy Relief nasal spray, because I could not quit coughing and sneezing.

By the time we arrived at my favorite juice place I looked like I had been crying and it was pretty funny, because the super sweet, nice owner must have noticed and he was even nicer to me than he always is. And while he was making our juices I tried to explain to him, in between fits of sneezing and coughing, "I'm fine, I've just got cedar fever."

Tony ordered their Sunshine juice and I ordered the Pear Bear juice and they were absolutely delicious and before we left Next Generation Produce I asked the friendly folks to please make me a Dragon's Blood juice to take home.

A little while ago, after Chet O'Keefe had come over and we had a fun visit with him, I drank my juice dinner and yes, their Dragon's Blood was totally delicious and exactly what I needed. And that is about it for tonight, except I want you to know that when I make Dragon's Blood juice, at home, I call it The Pink Dragon.

Tree House!

The last few days have been great, but nothing exciting has happened out here, probably because they have been gray, drizzling days and all I wanted to do was stay warm inside The Cabin.

This past Friday morning after Tony and I did our chores outside, we decided to work on B.B. King's pen, because an old cedar tree had fallen down, on the top of his dog house and instantly converted it to a tree house, inside B.B. King's pen. Because Tony will not let me go near a chainsaw, he cut up the timber and fallen branches while I tried to remove most of his cuttings, from the dog pen. This is what we still have left to do to finish the job.

By the time our dear friends Kris & Jim arrived, both of our backs were killing us, so we called it a day for tree removal work and instead we had a fun visit with Kris and The Mineral Man, before going to lunch with them, at La Fours, in Kerrville. (I only had a cup of their delicious seafood gumbo, because I was still full from juicing earlier.)

When we got back to the ranch, we laughed when we saw B.B. King walking up and down one of the nearly downed cedars, so I grabbed my camera and took this picture of him. Then I took this picture of Mr. King to use on our website.

This afternoon Tony and I went to Kerrville. Our first stop, at the crack of noon, was at the Next Generation Produce, because we wanted to drink their Bear Pear juice and I needed to buy some more organic fruits and vegetables. 

We ordered our delicious juices and while I was shopping around the cool store, Tony also ordered a shot of their Tumeric, ginger and lime juice, without me knowing it and he drank it before I returned to get my Bear Pear juice. When he told me about drinking a shot of that powerful juice, I ordered one too, after I had read about its many healing benefits, while sipping my Bear Pear juice.

Then we went to the big H-E-B store, on Main Street, so we could get groceries—mainly fruits and vegetables and then we came back home.

This afternoon it was still gray and drizzling, not my favorite kind of day, because I am a sunshine person and I need a lot of it. Anyway, around 4:00, the sun came out! I was thrilled about the sunshine and asked Tony to go outside with me so I could try to take some better pictures of Hazel and Katee Sackoff for our website.

When we got outside, we decided that I would try to get pictures of Hazel, while he tried to take a good picture of Katee, in Springsteen's pen, because we weren't sure how long the sunshine would last. And I am glad that we did, because it got cloudy twenty minutes later and it has stayed that way. Here's my best picture of Hazel, who never changes her expression. She is about four-years-old and here's Tone's picture of sweet Katee who is only about one year old and is medium-sized. (And her face looks just like Tony's Belle.)

When we came back inside The Cabin I cooked dinner for Tony and me using two new delicious vegan recipes. I cooked Drew's delicious Indian (Meatless) Cutlets recipe that tastes just like meat and believe it or not the main ingredients are: walnuts, bread crumbs, eggs and cottage cheese. Yes, I know that doesn't sound delicious, but it was and Tony ate two cutlets and he is or was a meat and potatoes only kind of a man. Here's a picture of his cutlets before he devoured them.

I also fixed us yams, which he has always disliked. I found this easy to make vegan recipe, on the Internet, with these main ingredients: yams, chili powder, butter and a small amount of brown sugar. Omg! It was totally delicious and Tony took second helpings of it! And when he handed me his empty plate to clean, he said, "That's the first time that I have ever liked yams. You need to fix us yams, like these, more often. I can't believe I love yams now and..." And that is about it for tonight, because we're going to watch the Cowboys game.

A Meet & Greet Update!

I have two successful meet & greet updates to report. Longmire and Ringo are now together and they are best friends. And Katee Sackhoff is now living with Springstein and they love each other! Life is good at the rescue ranch.

My Head On Collision!

Late Sunday afternoon, Tony and I were sitting outside, in my cabin's front yard, visiting with Tony's sweet sister and her husband. Tony and Annie love photography and they both had their cameras, on the table, ready to grab and capture the next pretty bird or butterfly that came our way.

While we were catching up with each others news, we were startled when we heard a loud noise and then watched a huge flock of frightened, white-winged doves take flight. "There's a hawk nearby," Tony stated.

Then Tony started to tell them our Coopers Hawk story, about us sitting in the front yard and watching a Coopers Hawk, swoop down, about ten feet away from us and grab a little bird and take off with it and that is when I nearly had my head on collision!

Out of nowhere this gigantic Coopers Hawk comes flying, literally at breakneck speed, over the top of my cabin, dives down heading straight towards my face and right before it got to me it flew upward and disappeared into the trees, in the pigpen behind us. Just barely missing the top of my head. All of us were shocked at what we had just witnessed and no one got a picture of it, because it happened so fast and their cameras were still on the table.

Annie and Tony were sick about not getting to capture the scary and exciting event. And as we talked about that fly-by, I remarked, "Well, I'm just glad that I didn't have Little Debbie out here, running around in the yard, because he could have scooped her up after turning my face into a permanent caricature!"

Yesterday was a great day. In the afternoon, Tony and I went to Kerrville for three reasons: Hazel, Longmire and Katee Sackhoff. And I am proud to announce that Longmire enjoyed the road trip to the rescue ranch, because I held him in my arms, so he could look out the window.

Before we put them into their pens, I tried to take some better pictures of them. We found out that little Longmire is approximately one-year-old and he never takes a bad picture, because he is so cute and that he must have been a race car driver in a previous life time, because he always wants to drive.

Hazel is a very sweet four-year-old dog and we put her in Tom Landry's pen and put Landry in the alley, in hopes that they will become fast friends. 

And then there's sweet, affectionate, one-year-old Katee Sackhoff. We have temporarity put her in the alley, between Springsteen and Gonzo & Daisy, in hopes that she can be Springsteen's partner. Good grief, Katee is so camera shy, unlike the great actress, on Longmire, because I tried, for over ten minutes, to take a good picture of her and so far, these are the two best. And I am not going to give up on taking a great picture of her and a better one of Hazel. Here's Katee hamming it up in front of the camera!

Before Tony and I went to get dog food for these three great dogs I took this picture of Katee visiting with Gonzo, by the gate and I was surprised with the outcome, so I quickly snapped my camera again. I have not enhanced these pictures and I love the pink rays. Tony told me the pink is from the glare of the sun, but I choose to think differently.  : )

Today has been great. Since this past weekend, after happily finding out that Garnet & Sandy's daughter's family have decided to adopt our sweet Buddy, this coming Saturday, we rescued another dog today. This afternoon, I talked to a very nice man, that volunteers for a Kerrville non-profit charity. First, he asked me if we could take a sweet, young dog, then he told me why. The charity that he volunteers for is trying to help raise the bus fare, to California, to help a homeless, young man get back to his family."This young man told us that he found the dog and he doesn't want it." So after our conversation, I called Susan, at Hoegemeyer Animal Clinic, to tell her that we had another incoming. And that is about it for tonight.

Road Trips!

Yesterday, while it was RAINING outside, thank goodness, I got a phone call from a nice woman that works, at the Kerr County Animal Services. She told me a sad story about an older woman recently passing away. This woman left behind a very sweet, female dog, that her children surrendered to the pound. She told me that this woman's dog was probably a Lab mix and that the dog had shyness issues and would we consider meeting her and possibly rescuing her, because the dog's time was running out.

I hate hearing stories like this because it always breaks my heart, so I said, "Yes, we might be able to help this poor dog. How much time does she have left? Because I know that we can't make it there today or tomorrow, because of all of the rain and possible flooding conditions. But maybe we could Friday afternoon, after our volunteers finish walking our dogs for us."

There was the sound of silence for a few seconds and then this kind-hearted woman trying to help this dog said, "Oh thank you so much! She's a really great dog, once she gets to know you. I'll make sure that we keep her until Monday, if that helps you out? And please, don't get on the roads just to come here in case it floods. The dog is safe and we'll definitely hold on to her until Monday..."

Early this afternoon Tony and I went to Kerrville. Our first stop was at El Sol de Mexico restaurant to eat a delicious lunch there and to take home a dozen of their tasty tamales, because everyone knows that they make the best tamales, in the Texas Hill Country. Or better yet said, "El Sol de Mexico Makes the Best Tamales on the Planet."

 After we left El Sol de Mexico we went to the pound, but it was closed until 1:00. It was 12:48, so we decided to wait, at the closed gate, for twelve minutes, but we didn't have to wait, because one of their friendly staff women came outside, waved to us and then opened up the gate to let us drive in. "Thanks for opening the gate," Tony said.

The smiling woman said, "It's not a problem! We'll always open it for y'all. Come on in, so I can show you this dog..."

Fifteen minutes later, I signed off on their paperwork, at their desk, then I went outside and pulled my new iPhone 5S (One of Tony's birthday presents to me this year.) out of my purse to take these pictures.

This is a picture of that woman's shy dog, already loaded inside our crate and I named her Hazel, because this dog wasn't shy acting with Tony and me or the friendly woman who helped us. And I think Hazel is an upbeat name for her, because I loved watching that television show. Here's Hazel!

I named this cute girl Katee Sackhoff, because she is the super cool actress that plays the character Victoria, a Deputy on Longmire—my favorite television show! It is not a very good picture of her, because she was so excited to be rescued, she kept jumping up and down, etc.

Here are Hazel and Katee already loaded up and ready to go to Hoegemeyer Animal Clinic. Hazel is in our crate and we put Katee in the smaller crate that we had to borrow from the pound. 

And we also rescued Longmire! This sweet little guy was so happy to get out of there, he wanted to drive us to Hoegemeyers, but Tony wouldn't let him drive, so I ended up holding him in my arms, on the short road trip over to the clinic. And please note that this little, handsome dog loves riding in cars and I hope that after he is neutered tomorrow morning, he will still want to go on road trips.

Before we adios-ed the friendly, helpful staff, at the pound, we had a fun visit with the staff, who were thrilled about us taking Hazel, Katee and Longmire. And one of the men Officers told us that he loved that we had named the little guy Longmire and that he had also spent some time working with Katee and he thought she was a very cool dog.

When Tony and I walked inside Hoegemeyers, Robin looked up from the desk and greeted us. Then I said, "We have three-incoming! We just rescued three dogs from the pound. And this little guy is named Longmire!

"I love Longmire!" Robin said. 

"The dog or the show?" I joked.

"Both. That's a really great name for this little fella..." 

And that is about it for tonight. And I'll keep y'all posted on Longmire's reaction about going on another road trip with us, when we pick him up, at Hoegemeyers, to bring him to the rescue ranch. 

And now I have some late breaking news! Tony has just walked into the kitchen and said, "Big G just told me that Chet is going to be playing again, at The Hunt Store, this Sunday from 1l:00 to 3:00, when they will be serving their famous brunch!"
