A Pyramid! or The Famous Horned Toad! or Multi-Tasking!

Today has been great, but it was also a little bit strange. And late this morning, Tony and I actually had a few hours of unexpected fun, because we ate lunch with our good friends Eileen & Wayne. While our friends/awesome mechanics, at Balser's Northside Automotive, next door to Acapulco, gave Silver, Tony's truck, its yearly inspection.

This morning while Tony was working next door, at Escondida Resort & Spa, I was home washing some dishes while listening and chanting to my most favorite Deva Premal & Miten beautiful chant—Om Namo Bhagavate/Oneness.

Anyway, something distracted me, so I turned around from the kitchen sink and saw this perfect pyramid glowing from across the room, on the wall. So I immediately quit chanting and I just stared at it, while asking myself, "How come this kind of weird stuff always happens to me when Tony is never around?" Henry, Beau, Little Debbie & Big Al(ice) said nothing, as they too stared at the shining pyramid.

So I grabbed my camera and took aim at this about one-foot-tall pyramid that seemed to be perfectly centered at the top of my beautiful George Boutwell 2020 calendar, that Kris & The Mineral Man had given to us last Christmas. Here is that picture. And in this picture the clock, above the calendar, shows 9:38 or 9:39.

Then I took this picture of the calendar, close up and at a different angle, so I could prove to Tony that this actually happened while he was gone. And please note the sun does not directly shine through this window, above the kitchen sink and I made sure that nothing was reflecting off of the glass of the kitchen window.

Anyway, when I got up close to the calendar I took this side angled picture and as you can see—no pyramid.

And a minute later, just as the chant had ended—the pyramid vanished completely into thin air, so to speak and it was no longer visible on the calendar. And the time on the kitchen clock shows that it is either 9:40 or 9:41.

So all I know is this morning there was a beautiful, glowing pyramid on the George Boutwell calendar and then it simply went away. And that is my weird pyramid story.

Next Topic

During our fun lunch with Eileen & Wayne we got to talking about growing up with Horned Toads and how much we had loved them. So I said, "Well, I still feel sorry for Ol' Rip. I can't believe they put him inside a jar and sealed him inside that new courthouse cornerstone...."

And because of the look on Eileen's face after I had said this I suggested that she Google this famous Horned Toad that had some how survived 31 years in hibernation, inside a glass jar.

Well, Eileen Googled it and then she read the story to us of Ol' Rip's famous life. Here is a picture of Ol' Rip and please click here for the famous story about his life and times.

And as I finish writing this tonight I want to share another one of Mari's funny quotes that she found on the Internet.

General Grant!

Today has been great, even though we've been busy running errands today. This morning after Tony did the chores outside and I had caught up with the rescue ranch paperwork, we caravan-ed to Kerrville.

Trigger and I followed Tony and Buttermilk, to Balser's Northside Automotive, in Kerrville, because Buttermilk needed a tune-up, oil change, etc.

After we dropped off Buttermilk, we walked across the parking lot and ate a quick lunch special, at the Acapulco restaurant and it was delicious. Then we went to Walmart, J.C. Penney and lastly the Post Office. Then we came back home.

When we got home I went over to Kinky's to visit with him, author Mary Lou Sullivan and his old friend Russ, who are both visiting him. Mary Lou is here to do more research for her authorized Kinky biography that she is writing and Russ is here to visit with his dear friend Kinky and Tony and me. (And rumor has it that Russ is seriously thinking about adopting our sweet Katee Sackhoff, who is only two-years-old. So please keep your fingers crossed for her.)

While I was over at the Lodge, Kinky showed me this beautiful, framed, photo that was given to him when he was up in Fort Worth, last week. "Nance, Spanky McFarland's son gave me this framed picture of Spanky and it is signed by Spanky..."

I loved it, because it was the cutest picture of Spanky, when he was a child actor, sitting next to another actor, whom I did not recognize. And because the picture of Spanky was given as a personal gift to Kinky, I only took a picture of Spanky's signature to show it to you.

Then Russ, Kinky and I started trying to remember the names of the four main characters that starred in the 1930's-1940's Our Gang also known as The Little Rascals. And I got all four names first, including Petey's name, the famous dog that had a magic marker circle around one eye.

When I got back home, I quickly did a little research about Petey and I found out that Petey's grave is famous and it is located, in Silver Spring Maryland. And the dog's real name wasn't Petey. It was General Grant of R.K.O. or Jiggs and his sun sign was Cancer, born in 1928 and died in 1938.

I loved Petey so much, in fact, every time that he appeared in a Little Rascals episode, I'd always wish that he was my dog, even though I loved Tuffy, our family Blue Heeler mutt who actually taught me how to walk, by letting me hold on to his short, crooked tail. And I am sure that there are many others who also felt the same way that I did about Petey, because he was so sweet and so smart.

And that's about it for tonight.

10:14! or Just A Few More Reasons Why We Love Kerrville So Much!

Today has been great. This morning Tony told me that he was going to do the outside chores early, so we could run our errands early in Kerrville, because he had a few things he wanted to do this afternoon, before the sweet kids, from the Arms of Hope at the Medina Children's Home, came over to walk our dogs for us.

Around 10:14, we were fixing' to leave, to go to Kerrville, when Chet O'Keefe called. He and his super dog, Willy, had left earlier this morning, to go out to Terlingua, because he had some gigs to play out there.

Chet had called us, because his Toyota's starter had gone out and he and Willy were stuck, in the big Post Office's parking lot. He had already called O'Reilly's Auto Parts and they were nice enough to  order a new starter for him and they had promised him that it would be, at their store, by 1:30.

Chet told us (we had it on Speaker Phone by now) that he needed Aaron's phone number to see if Aaron could help him replace the starter and that he needed for us to please bring him some of his tools, so maybe he could get started trying to remove the starter.

Then he told us that two different Kerrville Police Department cars had come by to talk to him. "The Police Officers were friendly and really nice to me and Willy. They told me that two different people had called in, to report him. And the calls came from the Post Office, but not from the Postal Employees. The two calls had come from two different people just going to the Post Office. One person told the police that I looked suspicious or something and the other woman who reported me, told them that they were scared of me..."

Thirty minutes later, we arrived at the Post Office, with Chet's tools. He looked a little frustrated, because he couldn't get a hold of Aaron. After talking to Chet for a few minutes, I suggested that we call Balser's Northside Automotive to see if they could help fix his starter and send a wrecker, because a few snooty-looking people, going inside the Post Office, were staring at us and they were making a point to make sure that we saw their ugly-looks that they were giving us.

We  called Balser's and they said they could fix Chet's starter today and they recommended that Chet call this wrecker service. Chet called the wrecker service and unfortunately all of their wreckers were busy for the day, because of a big job they were doing.

Before I suggested that we call Balser's back, the coolest thing happened! A wrecker pulled into the parking lot and parked near us. This nice man smiled at us and I waved. Then I walked up to his wrecker as he was getting out. "Hi, I'm Nancy and our friend needs a wrecker. Could you help tow his Toyota over to Balsers?"

"Sure! A good friend of mine works, at Balser's. Those are good people." Then this friendly man quoted Chet a reasonably low cost for towing his vehicle." And a few minutes later, Tony, Chet & Willy and me jumped into Trigger and then we followed Jacob, the Hill Country Wrecker Service owner, over to Balser's Northside Automotive!"

The people at Balser's Northside Automotive were great when we got there. And Jacob gave Chet a discount for towing his Toyota.

We had about two hours to kill, before the new starter came in, so we decided to eat lunch. But before we did that, we went to Hoegemeyer Animal Clinic, to see if they could baby-sit Willy, for an hour or so. "Sure," Susan told Chet, wearing a big smile, on her face. "Not a problem. I love your music.  Hi Willy..."

After we dropped Willy off, we went to eat lunch, but we still had about forty-minutes to kill before the starter would arrive, at O'Reily's. So we went to O'Reilly's so Chet could pre-pay for the starter, that they would deliver to Balser's. Then we ran Tony's and my errands. Then we went back to Hoegermeyer Animal Clinic to pick up Willy. And then we went back to Balser's to wait for them to replace the starter. And it didn't take them long.

Chet was more than thrilled about how quickly one of Balser's fine mechanics had replaced Chet's starter and the amount that they had charged him to replace the starter. Then he and Willy took off.

This afternoon, around 4:08, the sweet kids came over and they walked our dogs for us and our dogs had a total blast.

So here are just a few more reasons why we love Kerrville so much! "Thank you, O'Reilly's Auto Parts, Kerrville Police Department, Balser's Northside Automotive, Hill Country Wrecker Service, Hoegemeyer Animal Clinic and Arms of Hope at the Medina Children's Home! Y'all are the very BEST!

P.S. Aaron called me earlier this evening and he apologized for not being able to help Chet today. He had left his phone, in his car and wasn't able to check his messages until he finished working.

Y'all have a great evening!

Unplug Now!

The past two days and today have been great, but no exciting news to write about. Tuesday we dropped Buttermilk off at Balser's Northside Automotive, in Kerrville, to get some work done. Wednesday we went back to Balser's to pick up Buttermilk and drop off Trigger, to get some work done, too, because we love and trust the folks there.

Today we went back to Balser's to pick up Trigger and bring him back home and to get two, new front tires put on Buttermilk, at Wagoner Tires. And other than that, I've spent the rest of my time catching up the rescue ranch's paperwork. And to save time, I multi-tasked last night and did some writing and reading while I was outside earthing.

The sky is dark outside, as I am typing this and it has been thundering off in the distance. We've been under a severe thunderstorm warning, with heavy rain, possibly high winds that could produce 1/4 size inch hail. I hope we get the rain, but not the winds and hail.

Tony and I are fixin' to go outside to batten down the hatches (Put the Golden Girls in The Egg Palace.) Then we're coming back inside to catch KENS5's weather man segment. It just thundered real loud, so I am going to unplug now!

Y'all have a great evening!

Buttermilk Lives!

Today was sort of great, because Buttermilk, our 2001 Expedition died. Before we did our morning chores outside, Tony called Balser's Northside Automotive, in Kerrville and they recommended that we use Jimmy's Towing Service, to get Buttermilk to them. So, Tony called Jimmy's Towing Service to come pick up Buttermilk.

While we were outside doing our chores, a nice man, working for Jimmy's Towing Service arrived and our dogs got to barking. Tony took off, in Kermit, to see if he could help the tow truck driver.

It only took the driver about fifteen minutes to pull Buttermilk up, on the back of the tow truck and as the driver passed by me, I smiled and waved, as I said, "Thank you!" I was in Maggie's and Merlin's pen, so he stopped near their pen and rolled down his window.

"You're welcome, Cousin Nancy," he said, wearing a big, friendly smile on his face. Then he slowly drove away, with Buttermilk strapped down, on the back of Jimmy's giant, dark blue tow truck.

After Tony and I had finished feeding the dogs and cleaning their pens, we went up to The Cabin, so I could start cooking us lunch, which is always our big meal for the day. As I was washing my hands, in the kitchen sink, Tony said, "While that man was loading up Buttermilk, he told me that he hears you on the radio, when you do Big G's and Harley's show."

Around 1:30, Matt, at Balser's Northside Automotive, called me too give me a quote on how much it would cost for the towing and to replace Buttermilk's fuel pump. My reply was, "That's fine. Please fix her." And the good news is that Buttermilk will be up and running late tomorrow afternoon. Buttermilk Lives!

Late this afternoon, I took a short nap with our dogs, but ten minutes into my sleepless nap, the phone rang and I got up, because I needed to take the call. After talking and adios-ing Kinky, I grabbed my camera, in hopes, that I might be able to get a picture of my best friends, sleeping on our bed. And please note, that they are sleeping on that old quilt that Beau has spent his life time destroying. (The good one, stays folded up, in the bedroom chair and it is only used when we have company that don't know us.) From left to right: Mama, our twelve-year-old rescued Great Pyrenees, Beau "The Destroyer" and Roy Rogers hugging Belle.

After taking the picture, I did some paperwork, then I went outside, to work on my Space Ship, that I love and enjoy fixing up. And that is about it for tonight.

Y'all have a great evening!

What A Day—Thanks To MIR!

Today has been a little bit crazy and I blame it all on Mercury in retrograde. When I woke up this morning I made myself a cup of coffee and then I sat down at my lap top to check my mail. As I was reading Lisa's alarming warning note about there being a solar eclipse today on top of being MIR, I shuddered at the thought.

Then Tony walks into the kitchen and says, "I have some bad news."

"What?" I asked, as I clicked on an e-mail from Apple.

"The wild hogs came in last night and they knocked over The Eternal Squirrel on Yoda's grave and they tore up it's little solar panel." Then he handed me the solar squirrel, made by Malibu. So I put it on the drainboard and took this picture of it and then I bid Tony farewell, because he was headed to Medina to drink coffee with his friends at The Old Timer.

After pouring myself another cup of Donut Shop coffee I sat down at the kitchen table to read what Apple had sent to me and it made me smile, because my new Classic 160G iPod, engraved with "Nancy-Parker-Simons Loves Roy Rogers," has been shipped and it will arrive on Friday. And as I am listening to my old, now scary looking iPod, I am praying that it won't die before then, because my music keeps me upbeat.

Later, when Tony went outside to do our chores I got a phone call from a very sad, crying woman, "Nancy, I am so upset, because I have to return *&^%$ to you, because he is digging out and chasing our horses and chickens and..."

"I completely understand..." Then I went outside and told Tony that *&^%$ was coming back and would be here in fifteen minutes and then we discussed where we could put him, because we are at capacity with no space available.

When the sobbing woman showed up with little *&^%$, I walked over to her truck to greet her. As she lowered the window she said, "I'm sorry, but I can't do this. I have cried all the way over here. I love this dog, but I don't know what to do."

"Run a hot wire at the bottom of the fence and he will quit digging out," I said. Then Tony told her how to do it and then she happily drove away with her forever friend.

Then I returned to The Cabin, so I could call the pound in Kerrville, about a dog, that a friend had called me about. Because of the Veterans Day holiday they were closed, so I left them a message about us wanting to come tomorrow to pick the dog up. Then I punched in Kinky's phone number. "Kinky, I need to talk to Marcie about possibly fostering a dog for us until a space opens up over here."

"Marce, Nance wants to talk to you about fostering a dog," Kinky said to his younger sister. "Do you want to talk to her on the phone or come over?"

Five minutes later, I was over at the Lodge, in the kitchen, telling them about this dog and the emergency situation. "Yes, I would love to foster him for y'all," Marcie said. Then we discussed when we would bring the dog to her, because tomorrow we have to take him to Hoegemeyer Animal Clinic to get him neutered and shots, etc.

When Tony was done with his outside chores we went to Kerrville to get Buttermilk's oil changed and to get her inspected at Balser's Northside Automotive, stop by Hoegemeyer's to pick up some Rabies certificates and to buy our rescued dogs their annual Thanksgiving dinner at H-E-B, that Lisa & Chuck prepaid for.

After Buttermilk was taken care of we went to Hoegemeyers and when we walked inside Susan was behind the counter, sitting on the floor. "Hi, Susan. Are you hiding from us?" I teased.

Susan laughed and said, "No. Our power strip blew up and I am trying to reconnect everything." Then we talked about todays solar eclipse and MIR.

When the sweet vet tech picked up a Baggie filled with 16 folded Rabies certificates for our dogs, she asked Susan if that was the bag to give us and Susan said, "Yes." Then we visited for a few more minutes and then we left the clinic.

It only took us about twenty minutes to fill our grocery cart with: 5 dozen whole wheat rolls, 20 lbs. of ground turkey, 3 huge bags of mixed vegetables, 2 giant jars of minced garlic, 3 large bags of grated cheddar cheese, 5 dozen eggs, 6 boxes of stuffing, 3 large bottles of olive oil and 3 big, disposable foil pans, to cook the vegetables in and the grand total was $176.90. "Thank you, Lisa & Chuck!"

As Tony was loading our dogs Thanksgiving dinner into the back of Buttermilk I opened the Baggie and looked at it and when I read a certificate and then two others I realized that we had accidentally been given the wrong bag, so we went back to Hoegemeyer's to return it and get ours.

When we teased Susan about us getting the wrong Baggie she joked, "It's because I was sitting on the floor."

"I'm blaming it on MIR and the solar eclipse," I said.

Lastly, this evening when I tried to get on my blog, so I could write about my day—it would not let me get to the "New Post" and it took me over forty-five minutes, before the icon finally showed up. And that is about it for tonight.

Y'all have a great evening!
