A Pyramid! or The Famous Horned Toad! or Multi-Tasking!

Today has been great, but it was also a little bit strange. And late this morning, Tony and I actually had a few hours of unexpected fun, because we ate lunch with our good friends Eileen & Wayne. While our friends/awesome mechanics, at Balser's Northside Automotive, next door to Acapulco, gave Silver, Tony's truck, its yearly inspection.

This morning while Tony was working next door, at Escondida Resort & Spa, I was home washing some dishes while listening and chanting to my most favorite Deva Premal & Miten beautiful chant—Om Namo Bhagavate/Oneness.

Anyway, something distracted me, so I turned around from the kitchen sink and saw this perfect pyramid glowing from across the room, on the wall. So I immediately quit chanting and I just stared at it, while asking myself, "How come this kind of weird stuff always happens to me when Tony is never around?" Henry, Beau, Little Debbie & Big Al(ice) said nothing, as they too stared at the shining pyramid.

So I grabbed my camera and took aim at this about one-foot-tall pyramid that seemed to be perfectly centered at the top of my beautiful George Boutwell 2020 calendar, that Kris & The Mineral Man had given to us last Christmas. Here is that picture. And in this picture the clock, above the calendar, shows 9:38 or 9:39.

Then I took this picture of the calendar, close up and at a different angle, so I could prove to Tony that this actually happened while he was gone. And please note the sun does not directly shine through this window, above the kitchen sink and I made sure that nothing was reflecting off of the glass of the kitchen window.

Anyway, when I got up close to the calendar I took this side angled picture and as you can see—no pyramid.

And a minute later, just as the chant had ended—the pyramid vanished completely into thin air, so to speak and it was no longer visible on the calendar. And the time on the kitchen clock shows that it is either 9:40 or 9:41.

So all I know is this morning there was a beautiful, glowing pyramid on the George Boutwell calendar and then it simply went away. And that is my weird pyramid story.

Next Topic

During our fun lunch with Eileen & Wayne we got to talking about growing up with Horned Toads and how much we had loved them. So I said, "Well, I still feel sorry for Ol' Rip. I can't believe they put him inside a jar and sealed him inside that new courthouse cornerstone...."

And because of the look on Eileen's face after I had said this I suggested that she Google this famous Horned Toad that had some how survived 31 years in hibernation, inside a glass jar.

Well, Eileen Googled it and then she read the story to us of Ol' Rip's famous life. Here is a picture of Ol' Rip and please click here for the famous story about his life and times.

And as I finish writing this tonight I want to share another one of Mari's funny quotes that she found on the Internet.

Escondido Resort & Spa New Year's Eve Party!

Tony and I have been working a lot of hours next door, at Escondida Resort & Spa, this week.  Tonight we are resting up, because this famous, popular resort, next door to us, is nearly booked up for their annual New Year's Eve party. Which means that Tony and I will be very busy working next door this coming week.

The theme of this New Year Eve party is the Roaring 20's. So we've been busy decorating and get everything ready for the celebration.

Our dear friend Little Jewford will be the entertainment for the festive evening, so it is already guaranteed that the party will be a total blast. And I cannot wait to see LJ again, because he is one of the funniest entertainers and best piano players on this Planet.

Because Tony and I have been so busy working I haven't blogged or caught up on my e-mail, because I've been too tired.

Not tired because of the extra work next door, but tired because the past five nights I've been waking up in the middle of the night and writing on my novella for at least two to three hours.

I am thrilled about what all I've written, but getting by on four to five hours of sleep each night is starting to take a toll on me, because if I don't get at least eight hours of sleep each night Tony says that I tend to get cranky. Or better said—bi***y.

And because of my lack of sleep I've tried making up for it by taking naps with our four-leggers, but that hasn't been a good idea, because I am not sleepy when I go to bed. So unintentionally I have messed up my sleeping cycle.

Today I decided not to take a nap, in hopes of going to bed at a descent time tonight and catching up on my beauty sleep. So instead of napping this afternoon I've spent most of my afternoon writing. And as I finish writing this I am already yawning, but I am determined not to go to bed at 7:00 and make myself stay up until 10:00. So please wish me luck that I get at least eight hours of sleep tonight.

Y'all have a great evening and keep on laughing!

P.S. Gaby I got your e-mail and I plan to write you back tomorrow.

P.S.S. And to clear up any confusion—Little Debbie will also be acting in Jay Pennington's and Gerry Olert's next short Western—Vinegar to Honey!

We Love You Folks!

Today has been so much fun. This morning Tony and I worked next door at Escondida Resort. Our dear friends Kent Perkins and his sweet wife Ruth(ie) Buzzi have been staying there and after breakfast, before Tony and I came back home Kent pulled me aside and he told me that he and Ruthie and Ethan, their personal chef, wanted to come over for coffee and a visit after they had checked out. "We love you guys," Kent said. "We want to see your writing cabin and Little Debbie, too." I was thrilled.

So as soon as I got back home I quickly cleaned The Cabin, so it would not look like we live here. And I finished five minutes before they arrived in one of their beautiful Rolls Royces. It had been perfect timing to say the least.

Before we went inside The Cabin, Tony and I took them to see The Last Resort and I am proud to say that they totally loved it, too.

We hung inside there for about thirty minutes and before we left The Last Resort, I asked Ruthie & Kent to please sign the door and I asked Ethan to sign it, too.

And they signed it underneath what sweet Carol had written back in September.

When we came inside The Cabin to drink coffee, Ruthie and Kent took turns holding Little Debbie, because like so many of our friends—they love Little Debbie, too.

While we were drinking coffee, Kent noticed Little Debbie sitting on Ruthie's lap, so he suggested, "Y'all should take a picture of Ruthie and Little Debbie."

Kent and I were sitting on the couch and I had Big Al(ice) sitting in my lap, so I asked Tony to please take a picture of Ruthie with Little Debbie. So he grabbed my camera, off of my desk and took this cute picture of them together.

Tony and I had so much fun visiting with Ruthie & Kent and Ethan. They stayed for about an hour and we hardly ever quit laughing until it was time for them to leave and head back to their ranch in North Texas.

And before Ruthie & Kent got back into their Rolls, they leaned on the hood and sang, "We wish you a Merry Christmas. We wish...." to Tony and me. And when they had finished singing to us Tony and I sang "We wish you a Merry Christmas" back at them.

Y'all have a great (day) evening and keep on laughing!

It's Official!

Two days ago my Last Resort metal signs arrived! I was thrilled and could not wait to hang them up, but because it was so cold with nasty weather and because we were working extra hours—it had to be postponed. So let's just say that I was not a happy camper about my signs.

Today has been great. Tony and I worked this morning at Escondida Resort & Spa and a few minutes ago after we got home the sun was shining and it almost felt warm outside, so Tony volunteered to help me put my signs up.

First he put one of the signs inside the tiny cabin and then we went outside to so he could put up the other sign. Here are the before and after pictures of the outdoor sign.

So it is official now—The Last Resort has been named. And I totally love it!

Y'all have a great day & evening and keep on laughing!

Stuck!

Today has been great. This morning we worked next door and in a few hours I am going back over to Escondida Resort to work a few hours this evening.

Yesterday, I decided to paint a sign for my writing cabin. If y'all remember I was going to call it The Dog House.

Anyway, while I was waiting for my board to dry out (It was misting yesterday—not raining) I kept thinking about the name that I was giving to my writing cabin and I decided that there had to be a better name for it, because the theme of my decorating has turned out to be "a cozy cabin in a forest (backyard) and it is all about bears—not dogs.

After spending about an hour coming up with possible names I came up with the name The Gummy Bear Retreat. Because I wear dentures and bear was in the name. I liked it and it made me laugh, but the more I thought about it—it still wasn't right. So back to the drawing board.

Possible names kept floating in and out of my head all afternoon, but none of them stuck. Some were cute and some were funny, but I still wasn't wild about any of them, because the name had to be perfect and it had to make me laugh and make my friends laugh, too.

Around 3:30, I had a light bulb moment! I came up with the perfect name for my writing cabin. I was more than thrilled about the name, so I went Online to BuildASign.com and ordered this metal sign to hang outside on the cabin wall. Here's the sign that will be arriving next Wednesday! It says it all—it's absolutely perfect.

Kinky & Me!

Tony and I have been busy working. If we weren't working next door, at the fabulous Escondida Resort, we were working outside over here or inside my cabin or running numerous errands in Kerrville, etc. so my excuse for not writing much lately—is at night I've just been too tired after working and then trying to work on writing two books simultaneously.

And yes, I said two books. I've almost finished writing the 3rd novella, but it keeps writing itself and more and more pages are stacking up so fast—it is now just a few pages shy of actually being a book and not a novella.

The other book that I've started working on is non-fiction. I was going to keep it a secret, but a few weeks ago, within a five day frame period, after several of my friends (out of nowhere) suggested that I write a book about Kinky and me—I took it as a sign.

Speaking of signs, this morning while Tony was working next door I went to Kerrville and picked up two more metal signs that I had made for The Cabin and my writing cabin.

But before I show you those funny signs, I want to show you pictures of my writing cabin's progress, because after I built the drainboard Tony installed the bar sink and did the plumbing for me and I love it. Also, I've done a little more decorating. So here are updated pictures.

I love my tiny writing cabin so much and so does Tony and our dogs. Even though I am not completely finished decorating it I love going out there with our four-leggers to write, because it feels so cozy.

Before I sign-off on this post, here are the pictures of my two latest signs that I've already screwed to the walls of my writing cabin and The Cabin. And I hope that they make you laugh out loud.

Y'all have a great evening and keep on laughing!

Sympathy Pains! or Christina Fredriksen!

The last few days Tony and I have been working a lot and in-between working, Tony and I worked on my writing cabin.

With the help of our friend Ernest, the walls and the trim work are completed and the ceiling is finally insulated and finished, too.

During the three full days of working on the cabin, while working mornings and evenings next door, I sprained my ankle on the first day. So, if someone were watching us I must have looked like a female version of Chester, on Gun Smoke, as I limped around.

That first day after spraining my right ankle early in the morning, it was late afternoon when we finally called it a day and put away our tools. And when I went inside The Cabin, to go take a shower before going to work that night at Escondida—Henry Standing Bear was limping when he came to the door to greet me.

Henry was limping on his front right paw, so when Tony followed me into The Cabin, he joked, "Henry must be having sympathy pains for your ankle." And after we had checked out Hen's paw and had found nothing I agreed with Tony's diagnosis sort of.

"He must be faking it." Anyway the good news is Henry and I are fine now. No more fake limping or sprained ankle. And once I finish decorating my cozy cabin, which should happen some time next week, I will take pictures and be ready to show it to y'all.

Now I want to do a big shout-out for Christina Fredriksen, because her upcoming art show, The Habitat Art Exhibition & Live Music event is this coming Friday, September 27th from 2 pm - 6 pm, at the Texas Heritage Vineyard, in Fredericksburg.

Last week, after asking Marita to please send me some more information about Christina's art exhibit, so I could blog about it and promote her art show. Marita wrote back:

"Christina chose the theme "Habitat" for her art exhibit to illustrate the relationship between living and belonging somewhere. We all need to take care of each other and the environment that we live it. It is vital to our existence!"

Norwegian artist making drawings and installations inspired by nature and geometric structures. Fascinated by the autonomy of natural patterns, discrepancies and similarities to human taxonomies, I aspire to investigate and disrupt the formalities and identities of natural forms. This I do by deconstructing, repeating, assembling, scattering and/or superimposing within space, different material structures, objects and geometries.  I strive to apply new meaning and quality to the experience of space, inspiring viewers to reflect on their own existence, spatiality and perception of being in and of space."

And just so you'll know—Tony and I have already made arrangements to be off at work, so we can attend Christina's art exhibition and I hope that all of y'all will come to it, too. It will be a fun time for all and I promise that you'll love Christina's beautiful art and enjoy listening to Stephen K. Morris' fabulous music.

Chicken! or No Regrets! or Let The Games Begin!

The last few days and today have been great, of course, because ever since I started doing my morning habit (Saying, "Today is going to be a great day!" and then loudly clapping my hands together, before jumping out of bed.) nothing ever goes wrong in my life. And yes, I am bragging about that. And I highly recommend doing this positive habit. Especially since it is M.I.R. Time.

I found this awesome recipe Grilled Chicken and Sweet Potatoes with Strawberry Salsa, on the food network and I made it today for Tony's and my lunch and it was totally delicious and very easy to make.

Okay, hold your horses food police. First off, no chicken was harmed to make our super healthy lunch, because our new motto is "We don't eat anything that has eyes." Not original, but it works for us.

What I made for us today was the Strawberry Salsa and I served it over the sweet potatoes that I had drizzled with some olive oil and we also had a bowl of my mouth-watering homemade beans .

And yes I did use olive oil, because in Dr. Joel Fuhrman's Eat To Live Cookbook, there are at least 5 great recipes that use olive oil and they can be found on pages: 183, 184, 192, 198, 222, etc. Anyway, here is a picture of my strawberry salsa. And, I think that you should make it, because it was so easy to make and absolutely delicious.

And here are picture of what we actually ate for our whole food plant-based lunch today.

Since my last post, I did something and I have no regrets about doing it. Thank goodness.

Last week Amazon Prime had this big two day sale, so I decided to buy a "Amazon's Best Choice" tracker/pedometer for myself, because the price was drastically reduced (under $20.00) and because I love pedometers, because they keep me motivated to walk more.

Anyway, after I purchased my pedometer device I decided to buy one for Tony, too. And it was a gamble, because I wasn't sure that Tone would want one. So, I didn't tell Tony about me getting him one, too.

A few days later my pedometer package arrived and that is when I sprung it on Tony that I had gotten him one, too. And I was pleasantly surprised that he was so thrilled to get it. Bottom   Line: I suggested that Tony and I compete daily against each other to see who walked the most steps each day, because we both love challenges.

Because Tony and I have been having so much fun with our daily steps competitions, yesterday I told Sarah and Darlene, our sweet co-workers, at Escondida Resort, about our fun steps competitions.

So here is another Bottom   Line: They got so excited about the daily steps competitions they immediately went to Amazon and they purchased pedometers just like ours, too. So now the four of us can start competing against each other. (Their pedometers are supposed to arrive tomorrow.) Then "Let the games begin!"

Here are pictures that I just took of Tony's and my pedometer steps, so far today. And as you can see Tony is ahead of me, but tonight, at work, I plan to catch up with him and surpass him! Here is Tony's pedometer.

And here is a blurry picture of my step counter. It was hard for me to take a picture of my device. But you get the picture. : (

I know that competing will be so much fun with the four of us doing this and the coolest part about it all is—it is so good for our health.

And as I finish writing this post, I also want to let you know that sweet Sarah and sweet Darlene are getting ready to start eating a whole foot plant-based diet too. Because after seeing the results in us they too want to get healthier and live longer. Life is good. (Knock-on-Wood)

Y'all have a great evening and keep on laughing!

FYI: Tony won tonight by over 2,000 steps. But I will win tomorrow!

Little Green "Alien" Visits Escondida Resort & Spa!

Today has been great, but then again it is still early. This morning over at the beautiful Escondida Resort & Spa, Tony and I were talking to sweet Darlene and the magnificent Sarah, when our friend Lisa came over to us, and said, "Come on guys. Hurry! You've got to see this!"

And not on purpose, but in a wannabe Tim Conway imitation, the four of us scooted/shuffled our way over to see what Lisa wanted us to see right outside of the main office.

"I was just passing by," Lisa explained, "when I caught a glimpse of this green thing in the corner of my eye." And with our cameras ready to shoot, we all leaned in closer to see what this tiny green creature was.

When we saw what it was, it immediately put big smiles on all of our faces. And I said, "Omg,  It is way too cute!...." As we excitedly talked about this adorable, little green alien visitor at Escondida, Tony and I both started taking several pictures of it. And here are just a few more pictures of the little frog that I immediately tagged Kermit.

Of course Tony took much better pictures of this little green alien visitor than me and I wish that all of y'all could have been over there to see it, because it brought instant joy to all of us. Because being  at Escondida, surrounded by all its natural beauty and nature, and then getting to meet Kermit is just another great reason why Tony and I love getting to work over there.

And as I finish writing this morning's post I am listening to Louis Armstrong sing "What A Wonderful World." Even though I am well aware that is M.I.R. (Mercury In Retrograde) Time.

Y'all have a great evening and keep on laughing!

Rinse & Repeat! or Waffeling!

Today and the last few days have been great. We worked a lot, at Escondida Resort and when I wasn't working I spent most all of time writing or sleeping and I spent the other hours shopping for vegetables and fruits and preparing us delicious, healthy meals. So yes, Tony and I are still only eating vegetables and fruits and we really are loving this new lifestyle change. Plus the pounds are melting away. And it is not water weight, because we are daily drinking a ton of water and eating as much vegetables and fruits as we want.

The other evening, at Escondida, while we working in the kitchen, Rob grilled these beautiful, delicious vegetables outside and they were so tasty it inspired me to try to grill us some vegetables. So the other day I picked up some vegetables when we went to the big H-E-B. for groceries. Here is a picture that I took of Rob's grilled veggies that Escondido's guests raved about.

Yesterday morning around 7:00, when Tony and I were drinking coffee, before going to work—the electricity went out. So I stayed home and Tony went up to the top of the pass to phone in the outage. Then he went to Escondida to see if their electricity was out, too. And they too had no electricity.

Then Tony came back home and told me that the Bandera Electric was aware of the outage and they were working on it. And we should be getting our electricity turned back on around 9:00.

Then Tony went back over to Escondida to work. I stayed home, because I did not want to leave our dogs  alone without electricity.

Around 8:45, knowing that we would have power soon and I needed to go to work, I jumped into the shower to wash my hair. And everything was fine until I had lathered up, because suddenly there was no more water, because the pump had no electricity.

So  there I stood in the shower covered in shampoo and soap with no way of rinsing it off. So I dried myself off with a towel and then I waited for the power to come back on, so I could do a do-over—like the shampoo bottle suggests—Rinse & Repeat. And the good news is the electricity finally came back on around 9:30 and I went next door to work for a few hours.

This morning while Tony was next door working I was cooking and preparing our dog's breakfast for tomorrow morning and I decided to multi-task and that can be very risky for someone my age.

Anyway while the dog's brown rice was cooking in my Instant Pot, the first thing I did was mix up a batch of black bean brownies using dates (sugar substitute), raw almond butter, vanilla, natural non-alkalized cocoa powder and ground chia seeds. Then I tossed them into the 200 degree oven for them to bake for 90 minutes.

With so much time on my hands, I finished preparing our dog's breakfast and then I put it into the refrigerator.

Then I decided to make us healthy (non-alcohol) Bloody Mary juice to drink with our lunch. Here are the ingredients that I juiced together: tomatoes, red bell peppers, celery, lemon juice, Tabasco, Worcestershire sauce, salt & pepper.

After I put the faux Bloody Mary juice inside the fridge to chill, I cleaned the juicer and put it back where it belongs, on the counter.

Then I decided to try to cook the squash and zucchini like Rob did the other night. But I did not want to grill it outside, so I went hunting for my small, pink, George Foreman (dorm-sized) Grill, but I could not find it anywhere.

I was really disappointed about not finding it, so I got creative. I pulled out my waffle maker machine and decided to try using it to grill the vegetables.

Because the brownies were still baking in the toaster oven, I knew it would take at least 5 minutes to cook two sliced veggies at a time, on the waffle maker, so I decided to water-sauté a few mushrooms, because we are suppose to eat mushrooms everyday.

When Tony came home for lunch I had just pulled the cooked brownies out of the oven to cool.

And I had also just finished grilling the last of the vegetable waffles. And yes I know they don't look as pretty as Rob's beautiful, grilled vegetables with the grill marks. But I'm fine with it, because I like the little, square dimples pressed into my grilled veggies.

When Tony saw my dented grilled vegetables he teased me about using the waffle maker instead of grilling them outside, while I sliced up a Roma tomato and then we ate lunch.

Our lunch was totally delicious and we also had a delicious brownie for dessert, because we had to, because we are supposed to eat at least one serving of beans everyday. Here are pictures of the healthy lunch that I prepared for us today.

P.S. I do not recommend using a waffle maker to "grill" vegetables, because I think mine is ruined, with stuck on burnt veggies. I tried heating it up and let it burn-off, but I can't get it clean enough to use again. So I guess next the time we have company I will be cooking them pancakes instead of Belgian waffles.

Y'all have a great evening and keep on laughing!

Day 4!

Today has been great. Tony and I worked this morning and tonight we will be working again, at Escondida Resort. So this is going to be a short post.

Well today is day 4 of our diet lifestyle change and Tony and I can already tell we are losing some weight, because our faces don't look fat. But then again, it could just be my poor eyesight.

For lunch today I really knocked it out of the ball park. I water-sautéed all of these vegetables:
purple cabbage, zucchini, onion, corn, black beans, cauliflower, garlic, carrots, mushrooms and I seasoned it with Bragg's Amino Protein. And it was so delicious, I was going to show you a picture of my plate, but it was not a pretty picture even though it was so tasty.

Never mind. Here is the picture anyway.

I made us smoothies using these ingredients: cabbage, kale, beet, blueberries and almond milk. And yes, it was delicious, too. (Note: That is Henry Standing Bear and Beau Bridges looking out the front window.)

Then for our afternoon snack I used our juicer and made us Pear Bear juice. For several years this has been one of our favorite juices and here is the recipe:

Cousin Nancy's Pear Bear Juice

2 Beets
1/2 Lemon
2 Carrots
1 Apple
1 Pear
1" of Ginger

Tomorrow after we work in the morning Tony and I are going to Kerrville to stock up on more vegetables and fruits. And since our dogs love the scrambled eggs with brown rice, kale and carrots so much—we'll up a couple of cartons of eggs for them. So Life is good.

Y'all have a great evening and keep on laughing!

Be Cool!

Today has been great and this past week has simply flown by. It is hard for me to know where to start telling all of the things that have been going on, so I will just highlight the main events.

As y'all already know Tony and I put in a ceiling in the bedroom and it was a ton of work, especially for Tony, because he had to nail up one board after another and  then shoved the pink insulation between each rafter.

Anyway, because we were so thrilled how much our/his work helped cool the house we decided to go ahead and do the rest of The Cabin—the kitchen and the big room.

Long story short the other day when our dear friend Danny was here, Tony told him about our upcoming ceiling project. Danny offered to install the new ceiling and it turns out that Tony and him worked out a trade, so the only thing that would cost us was the materials.

So this past Saturday Tony and I took the day off from working next door and we worked here—helping (gopher-ing for) Danny and Ernest, his electrician helper. And just so you'll know, before we started The Cabin's front porch looked like Medina's version of Home Depot and the inside of The Cabin looked like a tornado had hit it.

With the four of us excited about putting in the ceiling by end of day things went south fast, because all 22 rafters were hanging at various heights from the roof and we also needed more electrical work than anticipated. So to say the least I tried to be optimistic about it all, but it was hard trying not to frown even though Danny had figured out a solution.

In no time flat Danny and Ernest started running string lines from the kitchen to the front door, underneath the rafters, etc. so they they could accurately measure and make each rafter the same height from the roof

It took several hours for them to "rip" 22 strips from 2 x4s. And basically one end of the strip would be as tall as 3 inches and would go from 3" down to a thin sliver. And the pictures below shows some of the strips in place. (They are the white looking strips nailed to the bottom of the rafters.)

And while Danny and Ernest were fixing things Tony pulled me aside and suggested that I go work on my writing cabin, because I was talking to much to Danny, when he was trying to think.

My feelings weren't hurt, because I knew Tony was right, so I hauled several boards to my writing cabin while Tony was setting up the chop saw and connecting the nail guns to the air compressor, so I could work inside the cabin. And in no time at all I was chopping wood, nailing boards, etc. while listening to my music.

Around 6:00, the four of us called it a day, because we were all tired and exhausted from the heat. And even though only six sheets of 4 x 8 OSB were hung up and the insulation installed we all felt good, because all of the building issues and electrical issues had been solved and fixed. And the only thing that left for us to do was put up the OSB sheets and insert the insulation. And this is how we left things, until Danny and Ernest come back this Saturday to finish putting up the ceiling. Then we will be done with expensive electric bills and be cool and comfortable.

And to my disbelief I honestly do love the new OSB ceiling, even though Danny had suggested that we paint it. But I've decided not to paint it, because it looks rustic just the way it is. So all is great.

This afternoon Tony and I went to Kerrville to run a few errands and I purchased a new rain gauge, at Home Depot, because when we had that freak hail storm it broke pieces out of the top yellow funnel—giving us inaccurate rain counts.

And here is our new magnified rain gauge that we purchased for less than $4.00!.

And that is about it for today, because Tony and I are going to go visit with Kent & Ruthie (Ruth Buzzi) and Sarah next door, at Escondida Resort. And then I plan to write the rest of the evening.

Y'all have a great evening and keep on laughing!

Be Good Promotion Rocks! & So Does Chet O'Keefe!

Today has been great. Tony and I worked this morning and we get to work tonight. We love Escondida Resort and we love working with our dear friends: Sarah, Darlene, Rob, Lisa, Rick and Lisa E. We are like one big happy family, where everyone wears a smile.

Since time is of the essence here, I checked B Good Promotion on Facebook, to check on Chet O'Keefe's whereabouts, The Traveling Jacket and our dear friends, Marita and Hans, who own B Good Promotion, in Norway.

B Good Promotion has posted another great video of Chet singing Game Bird, 12 hours ago. So here is the link to Chet performing Game Bird, in Norway. And I hope that all of y'all will share this link, to show your support of Chet's fabulous music and to B Good Promotion.

Y'all have a great evening and keep on laughing!

Tortilla Soup!

The past few days have been great. Two days ago Tony and I decided to tackle the small shed we built over a year and a half ago.

We built this small shed and I named it the Wash House, because we had planned to put in a shower, toilet and a sink for when we have guests. But those plans literally went down the drain, because when we finally made the move over here, we ended up stuffing the shed with tons of packed boxes, etc. So it basically became an outdoor closet filled with a lot of our treasured stuff.

Anyway, it has been so long since we had stuffed this shed—we had no clue what was inside there.  But we soon found out.

So Monday afternoon, we put on our leather work gloves and we started hauling everything that was inside—outside. We piled box after box on top of the picnic table and chairs and it sort of looked like we were having an unannounced garage sale that no one was invited to attend.

As we dug into each box we soon discovered that we needed several garbage sacks, because so much of our treasured stuff we needed to throw away, because it was stuff that we didn't want or couldn't use.

But the good news is that we found one box that I had carefully packed that had come out of my pink writing cabin. And it was like Christmas in April for me.

I found some of my favorite books, important rocks, signs, framed pictures, decorative throw pillows, crystals, stuffed toys and a boatload of knickknacks that I had totally forgotten about.
And most of this cool stuff either needed to be cleaned, vacuumed or washed, so I sorted them into piles. Here are two items that I love that I had washed in the kitchen sink: my big, cobalt blue ball that now permanently resides above the kitchen sink and my adorable Boston Terrier Christmas ornament which  is now hanging outside near ET.

So yesterday afternoon Tony and I loaded up the truck with ten, industrial-sized garbage bags that were full of unwanted stuff that we've been storing in the shed and we (Actually it was just Tony) unloaded them, at the Kerrville dump and it felt so good, because now we know exactly what is inside that shed and I have been reunited with some of my missing, treasured stuff.

To celebrate finally feng-shuiing the Wash House and dumping a ton of its contents, at the county dump, we dropped by Wolfmueller's Books, for a fun visit with Sandy & Jon. And needless to say we did a lot of laughing with our dear friends.

As I finish writing this post, it is not yet 10:00 in the morning. Tony is working next door, at Escondida Resort, for a few hours and I am cooking us a pot of tortilla soup for our lunch. And the two reasons why I have written this post early is because thunderstorms with some possible hail are predicted for today, so I will most likely be unplugged, and also because I plan to spend today and tonight working on my third novella.

Y'all have a great evening and keep on laughing!

P.S. "Gaby, yesterday we received your cute Easter postcard that you sent to us from Germany and we love it. And I/we hope that you had a wonderful Easter, too!"
