The Art Of Racing In The Rain!

Today has been as great as yesterday was.

Yesterday afternoon Lisa & Mark From Mississippi, our good friends, came out to visit us and it was so much fun to see them and laugh with them. As always Lisa and I did most of the talking and kept everyone laughing with our latest tales. And to set the record straight, we did let the men get a word in or two, but that wasn't often. Anyway, because of them—they made my Sunday great and I thank them.

Last night, my reason for not posting a blog was because of the 46th Annual, Academy of Country Music Awards was on—and it was Fantasic—with a capital "F."! Carrie Underwood's performance with Aerosmith's Steven Tyler blew me right out of the saddle and I am now a major fan of Eric Church. And I nearly choked to death on some popcorn that I was eating, when I watched Zac Brown's dynamite duet with James Taylor, because it was so incredibly great. Seriously, last night's CMA awards show was one of the best ones that I have ever seen and I am so glad that I recorded it.

This morning I got up real early so I could walk six miles with Leslie Sansone, my old, video-walking buddy, who I haven't walked with lately. After breakfast I decided to take an hour off, so I could start reading the New York Times Best Seller, The Art of Racing In The Rain by Garth Stein, because somebody gave it to me to read, but I can't remember who and also because Kinky is reading it right now and he loves the book so much—he doesn't want it to end. And now I know why, because I can't put it down, too. I love this book so much, that tonight I am writing this blog early, so I can sit and read more of it this evening. If you are an animal lover—it is an absolutely must read.

This afternoon after lunch, Tony and I took Gilligan and Mary-Ann to Hoegemeyer Animal Clinic, so they could get all of their shots and be spayed and neutered. After we dropped them off we swung by The Plant Haus, for two reasons. One, to thank Karen for letting the East Kerr 4-H Club have their bake sale there for us a week ago Saturday and two, so Tone could buy some more plants for his garden. Then we came home.

Late this afternoon I went over to the Lodge to visit with Kinky. As we sat outside on the rocking chairs, on his front porch, with the Friedmans running around in the yard, I told him that I had finally started reading The Art of Racing In The Rain and he was thrilled about it, so we started talking about Garth Stein's beautifully written book and how much we loved reading it. During our fun conversation Kink told me that he had talked to U.S. Representative Lamar Smith today. "Lamar said to be sure to tell you that he sends you his best and I told him to please read The Art of Racing In The Rain and he said he would get it immediately and read it. He's going to love it."

So, now I am going to end tonight's post so I can read more of this incredibly great book about a dog.

Y'all have a great evening!

I'm also in the middle of reading that book! I have the audio book from Ellen too. I plan to listen to it after I finish reading it! I'll pass the audio on to you if you'd like to have it - a great book!

Haven't heard such enthusiasm about a book in a long time. Will read it now too!
