And May The Best Woman Win! or Toyota!

Okay, last night, after I posted on my blog, I went outside with Tony, so he could "show me something."

We jumped into Kermit and took off. Tony stopped Kermit at Dodie's pen and we got out. "We'll, do you see it?" Tony asked. I looked around, but I didn't see it. So Tony walked over to the pen and pointed at it. And as I grabbed my camera I still wasn't sure that I really wanted to get that close to it.
"Don't be scared, Nance. It's just a Banana Spider and I promise that it won't jump on you. So I quickly took this picture of it before Tony drove us back up to The Cabin.

As we pulled up in Kermit, I saw Belle looking at us, from the porch and I thought to myself, "Now, this would make a great picture. So I took this picture of sweet Belle.

Yesterday, I promised to tell you more about Tony's and my hilarious lunch and I basically told you just about everything, but below is a color coded chart, that I've just drawn, of our seating arrangement. And please note that the women and I are circled in pink.

And their conversation went something like this:
4. "Oh, I just love that silver necklace that you're wearing."
5. "Thank you. I love it, too. It's from James Avery. Daddy had it especially made for me."
4. "I love my all of my James Avery jewelry, too. In fact, this silver, diamond necklace I'm wearing is from James Avery. It was custom made using Harold's mother's diamond wedding ring."
5. "Well, last year, sweet Gary surprised our daughters and me, at Christmas, by giving all three of us matching diamond rings."
4. "How sweet. The diamond on my necklace is one carat."
5. "Our three diamond rings are all 1.25 carats."......(Then Tony and I were served our delicious grilled trout dinners.

Later on, this topic almost made us laugh out loud.
4. "I just bought myself a new car."
5. "That's nice. What kind did you buy?"
4. "A Toyota of course."
5. "All four of us drive Toyotas. What model is yours?"
4. "A Corolla."
5. "Oh, we all drive Camry's." (By now, I can't even look at Tony, without shaking in my chair, because I was trying so hard not to laugh.)

And here is my last example of their silly, one-up (wo)man-ship contest:
4. "You know that I went to YMCA camp when I was young and I learned canoeing."
5. "Yes, I remember that. You went there and I went to W*&^ each summer. We did canoeing, too."
4. "Well, believe it or not I have a canoe and I taught my daughters how to paddle! They were so cute learning how to paddle."
5. "You couldn't pay me a million dollars to ever step foot inside another canoe, again. We keep our Boston Whaler, at our boat dock. Our Beach house is in Port O'Connor. In fact, last year our oldest daughter moved to Fort Knox and she married a Major." (So by now, all of y'all get my drift about these boring, hilarious women. And the best part was that the man sitting with them never spoke one word.)

Today has been great even though Tony had a mild fender-bender, after we picked up Roy from Hoegemeyer Animal Clinic. Roy had an appointment there, so they could check his "Lick-itis and they pretty much gave him a clean bill of health, but they do want to see him in two weeks.

And before I go, I want to tell you, that I made the best two-step mix Green Chile Stew for our lunch, that Mari had suggested I buy, at H-E-B. Tony and I loved it and y'all can make it too! The brand is COOKWELL & COMPANY.

Y'all have a great evening and keep on laughing!

The Three Four-Leggers!

Yesterday when I blogged I forgot to tell you what I fixed for Tony's and my lunch. I fixed that Julie Child recipe Chicken With Mushroom in Cream sauce, which is by far our favorite chicken dish. We love it, because it's absolutely delicious and it is so easy to cook.

Last week when Lisa told me that she had finally cooked Julia's recipe and she and all of their guests had raved about how delicious it was, she admitted that she served it over pasta. So yesterday when I cooked it I decided to serve it over pasta, too with sliced tomatoes, from his organic garden, and peas. And I took this picture of Tony's plate before I let him enjoy his favorite meal.

Today has been great. Early this afternoon Tony and I loaded up Jack, who arrived yesterday afternoon while Shelly & Stuart and I were busy walking Thumper and Butterball, down to the creek.
Anyway, we took him to our friend's home, in Medina, to see if Jack would fit in with his new family.

When we arrived Clare and her two dogs came out of their home to greet us, but when they saw Jack, Lady B., the adorable Chihuahua started barking non-stop, from inside the fenced front yard. Buster, the elder, rescued mutt looked at Jack and he didn't seem to care one way or the other about Jack.

So Clare and I decided to take Buster and Jack for a walk around the block and the two male dogs got along beautifully. So when we returned, we asked Tony to please leash us little Lady B. and take her for a walk with us.

And the good news is Lady B. was a perfect little lady once outside her territory and before we had reached the end of the block to take a right—she and Jack were already the best of friends. So, when we came back to the front yard, we took all three, still on leashes, for a walk around their house. And nothing happened.

So, before we removed their leashes I asked Clare and Tony to let me take a couple of pictures of Jack with his new loving family. But because Clare is self-conscience about getting her picture taken, I purposefully aimed my camera down on the three four-leggers and on Tony's boots and Clares shoes. Jack is the one that's mostly white.

The phone rang just a minute ago and it was Clare. "Nancy, I wanted to let you know that I just fed all of the dogs and I put their pans in different areas of the kitchen, like I've done in the past and all three ate their dinners and no one tried to go eat the other one's food."

"On this is great news, Clare! I love it."

"I know. And I wanted to also tell you that we had to go to Kerrville earlier, to get some groceries and when we got back home—they were all sleeping on the couch and on the chairs and all was well. Jack is a great little dog and we love him...."

And that is about it for tonight, because Tony wants to show me something outside and I think it is a beautiful spider that he's been photographing.

So tomorrow night I will share the hilarious dining experience we had today, at a purposefully unnamed, popular restaurant, in Kerrville. That involves two, older women, about my age, whose faces were so tight from all of the work they've had done they looked like Bob, the alien. They were sitting at the table next to ours, trying unbelievably hard to one-up each other's jewelry, cars, vacations, exclusive camps they had attended, universities they had attended, their degrees, etc.

It was so hard for Tony and me trying not to laugh out-loud at their non-stop, ridiculous bragging, while we tried to enjoy eating our late lunch.

And I promise to draw a sketch of our seating arrangement. Seriously, Tony and I cannot quit laughing about them and we really felt so sorry for that poor gentleman (probably one of their unfortunate husbands) that had to sit with them and listen to all of their nonsense.

Y'all take care and keep on laughing! or Go eat where we ate today!

I've Got A Secret!

Today has been great and so was yesterday. Last night, before watching more Northern Exposure episodes, I watched this amazing, historic video that my dear friend Mari had e-mailed to me and I thoroughly enjoyed watching it.

"In 1956, CBS aired a game show called I’ve Got a Secret, featuring a panel of four celebrities—radio and TV personality Bill Cullen, actress Jayne Meadows, comedian Henry Morgan, and actress Lucille Ball—who had to guess a contestant’s secret. In this clip from ’56, host Garry Moore brings an elderly man, Samuel James Seymour, to the stage, bearing an astonishing secret: that he’d been at Ford’s Theater the night President Abraham Lincoln was assassinated on April 14, 1865. The show aired just two months before Seymour’s death." So please click here to watch it.

After watching this, I e-mailed Mari back to thank her for sending it to me and I also wrote:

"...In '56 I was 5 years old and I probably actually watched this very show, because our family never missed watching this show. We loved "I've Got A Secret" and it was a weekly family affair. It was also fun to see all of those old familiar faces.

And I had to laugh out loud when instead of giving Sam a carton of Winston cigarettes as a prize, they gave Sam a can of Prince Albert to smoke, in his pipe. LOL, talk about not being politically correct! Life was so simple back then and those were the days when people were truly happy, talked and laughed (and smoked) together. I believe they called it actually communicating with one another. Those were the good old days and I sure do miss them...."

For the past few days I've been taking several pictures of Henry Standing Bear with his two, security blankets, because he's been either playing with them or tearing them up or snoozing with them. So here is Henry's latest update.(Fay, please let me know if his twin sister does this, too.)

Like I said earlier, "Today has been great," because "Butterball" got adopted. Sadly, last week, a dear friend of ours who had adopted Buttercup and Blue from us, several years ago, had to return Buttercup and Blue. She was heartbroken to have to bring them back to us, but because of some unfortunate circumstances, in her life, it was her only option.

Tony put Blue and Buttercup in the same pen and they quickly readjusted to their new digs. And because of the rainy weather we've been having recently, I have waited to take pictures of these two great dogs and post them.

Anyway, this morning this super, nice couple and their older rescued dog, Thumper, came out to our rescue ranch to hopefully let Thumper pick his new running buddy. The choices were narrowed down to Hazel, Walter Cronkite and Buttercup.

Buttercup was the last one that I introduced the couple to and they especially liked her, so when they asked me her name for some reason I said, "This is Butterball!" Tony, Shelly and Stuart chuckled.

Then Tony, who was sitting in Kermit, says, "Nance, her real name is Buttercup. Not Butterball. Don't you remember?" Then we all laughed.

Then the couple told us, "We like the name Butterball better. It fits her. She looks like a butterball." And Tony and I had to agree with them, because let's just say that Ms. Butterball needs to shed more than a few extra pounds.

As these nice people and Thumper went back to their pickup, so they could drive outside of the rescue ranch, Tony put a leash on Butterball for me, so all of us could introduce them outside of the rescue ranch.

Butterball and I got outside the gate first and soon after they arrived. So over the river and through the woods we walked with these two, happy-go-lucky dogs that seemed to hit if off from the git-go. And by the time that we had returned to their pickup—Shelly, Stuart and Thumper all wanted to adopt Butterball.

Before they signed off on Butterball's adoption contract they loaded up Thumper and Butterball into the backseat of their big truck and drove up to The Cabin. And right before we adios-ed each other, I asked them if I could take a quick picture of Butterball's adoption for my Blog.

I quickly took three snapshots of them, sharing the backseat and sadly this is not a great photo of either of them, but it is the best one out of the bunch. Butterball is the cream-colored one laying down, on the backseat.

Right after we adios-ed each other, Tony and I came back up, to The Cabin, so we could let our dear friend know that her beloved Buttercup had been adopted and that she had found herself a fabulous forever home. And the good news is that our friend was thrilled about the adoption and she thanked us and told us that she was working on some friends who are seriously thinking about adopting Blue.

Tonight, Little Debbie, Big Al(ice), Roy, Belle, Beau, Henry Standing Bear and I plan to re-watch this old Western, that was made in 1938, that a good friend gave to us last week. Our friend told me that she loved the movie and after I watched it, last week, so do I.

Y'all have a great evening and keep on laughing!

A Million Times! or The Best BBQ In Boerne, Texas is Texas Meat Co.!

Today has been a blast, because Tony and I took a mini-vacation today. We went to Boerne, Texas, to eat lunch with our dear friends Cheryl & Walter and to catch up with each others latest news.

We met them at the coolest indoor/outdoor restaurant, too. They had suggested that we meet them at Borne's favorite and coolest place to eat delicious BBQ, The Texas Meat Company, at 1101 South Main Street, because we all love Texas BBQ.

We all arrived on time, but Tony and I were two minutes earlier than their arrival, so I guess you could say that we were first. Which gave us time to check out their fabulous Menu.

After howdies and hugs we took turns ordering what we wanted to eat and then we went and sat down, at a vacant picnic table, on their outdoor patio, that had the greatest vibes, but then again, it could have been our dear friends fabulous vibes or just a combination of all of them.

But it really doesn't matter about who had the best vibes there, because we were having so much fun getting to visit with two of our Top 4 Coolest People, in Boerne, who are Walter & Cheryl and Jay & Sarah. (By the way if you're not from Texas, Boerne is pronounced "Burn—E.")

While we ate our mouth-watering lunch, we talked about almost everything under the sun including: our love for Terlingua, our love for Northern New Mexico, catch & release fly-fishing, in Wyoming and Utah, football, baseball, Alpine Texas, Marfa Texas, Duke, the Mayor of Cormorant, Minnesota, Great Pyrenees, Sul Ross University, Chet O'Keefe, banjos, guitars, scorpions the size of a mans hand, our families, photography, my paintings, my Blog, keyhole gardening, etc.

At one point during our fun-laughter-filled conversations, Walter looks at me sort of serious, and says, "Nancy, you could really make a lot of money with your writing and fainting." And Cheryl and Tony agreed with him, while I'm sitting there with a dumb look on my face, because I was trying to make sense out of what Walter had just said to me.

Then I figured it out and chuckled, and then confessed, "Y'all, I'm seriously getting hard of hearing, and Walter, I thought you said "with my writing and fainting," not that I go around faintin' all of the time. You actually said "painting"—not fainting."

Then it's Tony's turn and he adds, "I'm getting Nance a hearing-aid for her birthday."

And that's just about the time that I remembered that I had not told Cheryl & Walter my hilarious, off-color joke that makes everyone burst out laughing when they hear the punch line. But first, I warned them about my joke being off-color and then I told them my joke. And like everyone else that I've told it to—they burst out laughing, too. And so did Tony, even though he's heard me tell it over a million times to our friends.

While we were still laughing about the joke, one of the nice, friendly co-owners of, Texas Meat Co.,   walked up to our table and asked us how we liked their food and if he could get us anything and we all told him that "the food is absolutely delicious!"

And I liked that, because it showed that he really cared about what the diners thought of their food.  And to prove it, after he left our picnic table, I watched him go from one table to another making sure that everyone was enjoying their meals. So, I want to highly recommend eating at the, Texas Meat Co., because they serve the Best BBQ, in Boerne, Texas.

Before we had to sadly adios our dear friends, we also talked about going out to Terlingua together, Tony and I suggesting that they watch our most favorite hilarious Netflix shows: Grace & Frankie and The Ranch (They are already fans of Longmire) and thanking them for treating us to a super fun, delicious Texas BBQ lunch. So, I am happy to say, "Life is good when you are lucky enough to have great friends like Cheryl & Walter."

Y'all have a great evening and keep on laughing!

The Duke!

Today has been great. Last night, near the end of my post I promised to tell you about us rescuing a sweet, nine-year-old, male Jack Russell from a very nice man whose life suddenly went from being "life is good" to "I can't believe all of this horrible stuff is happening to me at this time in my life."

Anyway, after he told me all of the uncontrollable trouble he's having to deal with, I told him that I had an idea and would get back to him later in the day.

As soon as he and I adios-ed each other I called a friend, in Medina, because I knew that recently she was looking to adopt a small dog to be a companion to their sweet Chihuahua. She and I talked for a long time about this man's life being turned upside down and his sweet Jack Russell. And by the end of our discussion she wanted to adopt this dog, so we made a plan.

Then I called the nice man back and told him that I had found a great forever home for his lonely dog. "She and her husband both work in Medina. They have a doggie door and a very sweet Chihuahua. She also told me that they come home for lunch everyday and they get off work around 2:30...." Then I told him that she wants to pick up the dog on Sunday. So he suggested that he bring his dog to us on Saturday and then he thanked me for helping him and his sweet dog. So this Sunday is officially the day that we will adopt the dog out.

This afternoon my dear friend Kris sent me an e-mail with a link to follow. I checked it out and I totally enjoyed reading this fun-to-read story about Duke, the Mayor of Cormorant, Minnesota.
And when I saw the Mayor's picture it immediately made me smile big time, because it reminded me so much of some of my dearest and closest best friends.

I'm not going to tell you what this story is about, because I want it to be a surprise for you like it was for me. And if you click here to check out this happy story you'll instantly know why I'm so madly in love with this super handsome Mayor and why it makes me want to move to this tiny town, in Minnesota, so I can cast a vote for him the next time that he runs for Mayor as an Independent.

Y'all have a great evening and keep on laughing!

Taking Care of Business! or Invisible Ink!

Today has been great. Early his morning when I woke up it was thundering and raining outside and Tony was  drinking coffee with his friends, at the Old Timer, in Medina, so I went back to bed, to catch a few more hours of sleep. Because I didn't fall to sleep until 1:45.

The next time that I woke up, with all of our dogs sleeping on the bed with me, it was thundering and raining outside, again. It was sort of like a deja-vu, but this time Tony was drinking coffee, in the kitchen.

After taking an Aspirin and giving Roy his three pills, I drank a delicious cup of Chai Latte, before I showered and got dressed. Then I started taking care of business.

I returned e-mails and  phone calls first. Then I paid some bills, made up a deposit and tried to write thank you letters, but unfortunately the officejet was in a snit and rejected all ten of my printing requests. But in the printer's defense it made all of the sounds like it was printing my letters, but when I went back to my office to retrieve the thank you letters with my added personal notes to them—the pages were all blank or the printer used invisible ink.

Awhile later, I was running diagnostic checks on this often moody officejet when Tony came back inside The Cabin, after doing his morning chores outside. He was soaking wet, and said, "Nance, I'm starving. What's our plan for the day?"

"We need to go to the bank to make a deposit, then go to the Post Office, so I can mail some bills. I wrote the thank you letters, but the printer isn't printing anything that I can see. I guess we could take off now, if you want to?"

"Okay, let me take a shower and put on some clean clothes. It will take me about twenty minutes."

On our way to Bandera to make a deposit I persuaded Tony into eating lunch, at the Apple Store, in Medina, by telling him how delicious their SPJ Burger was. The one that made Texas Monthly's Top 50 Burgers in Texas.

So after making the deposit and then mailing my letters, in Medina, I saved Tony from starving to death, because we went to the Apple Store and ordered the exact same thing for a late lunch—SPJ Burgers and iced tea. And like me their SPJ Burger is our new favorite thing to eat, at The Apple Store. And that's about it for tonight, because I am expecting an important phone call.

Tomorrow night I will tell you about us rescuing a small dog today, named Jack, who I've already found a great forever home for.

Y'all have a great evening and keep on laughing!

The Best Jokes...!

Today has been great and so were the past few days. On Tuesday I made that Tom Kha Gai soup recipe for our lunch and it was absolutely delicious. And to prove it, Tony had second servings.

Early this afternoon, we gave our dear friend Steve Pietzsch a ride to Kerrville, so he could pick up his car that had just been repaired. But, before we dropped him off to pick up his car we ate lunch together. And Tony and I had a blast catching up with Steve's latest news.

The three of us talked non-stop going to Kerrville. First, we talked about the best composting toilets to buy, all of the benefits of living off-grid and water-catchment systems, because I am seriously thinking about building a Tiny House, in Terlingua, Texas.

Then I remembered that I had not yet told Steve my hilarious off-color joke, that I heard David Spade tell on a Netflix show. It involves this ninety-year-old couple celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary, but that is all that I can tell y'all, on my Blog, because the punchline is so unexpected.

As you already know I've just about told everyone that I know that cute joke and every time that I've told it I always get the same reaction—they burst out loud laughing and then tell me, "That's one of the best jokes that I've ever heard!" And Steve did the exact same thing, too.

While we were eating lunch or trying to eat lunch, because we were laughing so much, we started talking about our smart phones. Steve pulled out his smart phone and told us that he only uses it to talk to his friends and then he confessed, "This thing is so complicated that I only know how to call people and do a few other things."

"I admitted to Steve, "We don't know how to do many things with ours, too." Then suddenly a light bulb went off in my head. "Steve, I learned this last week about calling people. Did you know that you can ask Siri to call someone for you and she'll do it. It's pretty cool."

So Steve immediately pressed Siri's button and asked her to call his friend Jan and she did after asking him did he want the home number or cell number. Then we talked about art and his art and the rest is history.

After we dropped our dear friend off, at the auto repair shop, we went to Hoegemeyer Animal Clinic, so I could pick up a refill of Roy's arthritis pills. Then we came back home.

Chet called me late this afternoon and we must of talked for about an hour, because we were catching up with each others latest news. And that's about it for today.

Except, Sandy & Jon just called me to visit and yes, I told them my off-color joke and like everyone else and Steve's reaction—they burst out laughing, too"

Y'all have a great evening and keep on laughing!

Alert! It Appears That I've Been Hacked Again! So Please Delete Any E-mail With Salutations!

I Love you, Roy!

This morning when I woke up I was immediately depressed, because I knew that we had to take Roy Rogers, to Hoegemeyer Animal Clinic, to get a veterinarian to check him out.

About a week ago Roy had a lump on his lower front leg and it was about a quarter of an inch tall and as wide as a Q-tip. I decided to wait a few days to see if it would go away.

The next morning we checked old Roy's leg and the lump had disappeared, but now there was a small indention and it was red and stayed that way for a couple of more days, then another much tinier lump appeared and I caught Roy licking it often.

On Friday, when we met Kris & Jim for lunch, at a restaurant, I told our friends about Roy's leg and Kris and Jim both suggested that we should get it checked out, because it might be cancer.

Hearing them say the dreaded "C" word was what I was really scared of and in the back of my mind I had already thought that, but I just didn't want to face my fears, because I love Roy Rogers so much, because he's been my loyal, faithful companion for almost five years. December 22, 2011 to be exact.

So this past weekend, I tried to avoid thinking about it, because I didn't want my Roy to have cancer.  But every now and then when I would catch Roy licking his leg, I would go check his leg and nothing had changed.

This afternoon Tony and I took Roy to Hoegemeyer Animal Clinic. Roy seemed to enjoy the ride, but I didn't, because I was so scared of possibly hearing the vet tell us that, "Roy has cancer."

When we arrived Susan greeted us and then I told her all about Roy's leg. The veterinarians were busy and the lobby was full, so we agreed to leave Roy there so the vets could check him out when they had time, while Tony and I went to the big H-E-B to buy dog food for the rescue ranch and for me to pick up a few groceries.

When we returned to the clinic, both vets were in the examination rooms seeing patients and Susan was on the phone telling someone how to give a dog a pill, while a smiling woman, hugged her cute, little dog, in her arms, patiently waited so she could pay her bill. And all that I could do was silently pray that Roy did not have cancer.

A few minutes later, while Tony was in the restroom, Dr. Jay Rydberg walked into the lobby and when he saw me, he said, "Nancy, I think Roy is going to be fine. He has (it sounded like he said Licktosis) which is caused by excessive licking. I gave him a shot to stop his itching and I treated the sore and wrapped it in gauze, so he can't lick at it. He needs to take four pills a day, for two weeks and then you need to bring him back so we can take a look at his leg, clean the area and change out the gauze and if it is not getting better  then we'll go on from there." And you cannot image how big my smile was when I heard this great news.

Then Dr. Rydberg politely asked a woman, in the lobby, to bring her dogs into one of the examination rooms. Seconds later Tony walked back into the lobby, and I said, "Roy doesn't have cancer!..."

And a minute later when Susan and Roy walked into the lobby, and all I could say was, "I love you, Roy. Let's go home big buddy." So as you can see today has been more than a great day for me and for Roy. And I took this picture of Roy as soon as we got back home. Life is good.

Tom Kha Gai!

Today has been great, because we are actually getting some much needed rain. We haven't gotten a lot yet, but it is starting to rain right now.

This past Tuesday Tony and I ate lunch at Thai Ocha Restaurant, in Kerrville and we ordered the same thing again, but this time instead of  ordering their #4 we ordered the all you can eat Soup & Salad.

We loved eating their salad and we both had seconds on their delicious Tom Kha Gai soup of the day. Neither of us have ever tasted Tom Kha Gai soup before and because it was so delicious, when I came home I researched and found Tom Kha Gai recipe for it.

Then for the next three days the ingredients started arriving. Then I went on Amazon and ordered almost all of the ingredients. And most of them I cannot pronounce or ever try to. Anyway, I spent $60.00, with free-shipping and still need to buy the rest, the next time that we go to Kerrville. Here is a picture of just some of the ingredients, from Amazon Prime, that are needed to make this mouth-watering soup.

I bought two different brands of Coconut Milk, Premium Fish Sauce, Kaffir Lime Leaf dried whole, Thai Galangal Slices, Lemon Grass, Nuac Mam Nhi and Chili Oil.

And then later on I found out that there is actually a great Thai Food store, in Kerrville and that H-E-B also carries several of these products. I am planning on cooking this soup this week and I will let you know how it turned out.

Since last Friday afternoon we've had friends spend the weekend with us and we had a wonderful time seeing our friends. They left early this afternoon to go back home and we are so looking forward to their next super-fun visit.

And that's about it for today, because I'm pooped and I am going to take a short nap with our dogs and then do some more writing tonight.

Y'all have a great evening and keep on laughing!

Lost And Found!

Today has been great, because while I was fengshui-ing my office earlier I found some old paintings that I've done. And this post is going to be mainly pictures, because I need to go take a nap with Roy, Belle, Beau, Henry Standing Bear, Little Debbie and Big Al(ice).

Early this afternoon, I took a break from de-cluttering my office and cooked us lunch. And those pretty tomatoes came out of Tony's organic garden and they were totally delicious.

After lunch and cleaning up the kitchen I went back to my office and these are some of my paintings, finished and unfinished, that I stumbled on. I stumbled, because there was too much stuff I had put on the floor to put in a trash bag.

Finding these were so much fun, because now I am inspired to finish painting the dog by the stream and adobe house paintings. And that's about it for now, because I need to get a short nap in, so tonight I can continue to watch more episodes of Northern Exposure.

Y'all have a great evening and keep on laughing.

Sidetracked!

Today and the last few days have been great, because my "new hand-picked media" is really working and I've actually been feeling upbeat.

I totally enjoyed watching My Fellow Americans that Kris & Jim loaned to me. And after watching that movie I went to Amazon and purchased that hilarious movie I got sidetracked, which seems to happen to me quite often.

Anyway, I ended up adding one my most favorite television shows Northern Exposure which aired in 1990 -1995 and I bought this "package deal" consisting of the complete series with 110 episodes, 14 DVDs that are neatly stored in an adorable faux leather carrying case.

So the last few evenings I've been glued to the television watching one hilarious episode after another. Enjoying the characters: Dr. Joel Fleishman, Maurice Minefield, Maggie O'Connell, Holling Vincoeur, Shelly Tambo, Chris Stevens, Ed Chigliak, Ruth-Ann Miller and Marilyn.

And I am already halfway through Season 2! When it arrived I took these pictures of my Northern Exposure collection. And I totally suggest that everyone watch it, because it was before everyone had cell phones and computers.

This morning, I received an e-mail from a dear friend or ours and it really concerned me. His note read:

"Nancy, I entered Area 51 today…!"

So after I read it, I Googled Area 51 to refresh my mind, because I could not remember everything about it. And when I read the part "Signage around the base perimeter advises that deadly force is authorized against trespassers" it alarmed me. So I immediately wrote my friend back without trying to scare him on his adventure:

"Hi, it is great to hear from you, again. Please be careful in Area 51 and I hope that you are out of there by now. Since we've both seen that hilarious movie Paul I hope that you will get to see all of those famous Alien sites that were in the movie and maybe their will be a Comic-con that you can go to. Take care and keep on laughing. Nancy"

A few hours later, this friend actually called me to visit. "....I'm really worried about you and I hope that you're still not in Area 51, because you might get shot!"

"What?"

"I just read all about Area 51 and sent you an e-mail to warn," then he interrupted me and chuckled.

"Nance, I haven't read your e-mail and I am not in Area 51 and have never been. I'm in Colorado right now. What I meant was my age. I'm now 51. I'm in Area 51." Then we both had a good laugh about it.

A few hours later, after he had finally read my e-mail about warning him my friend shot me this e-mail:

"Ha yes, I will be  in Area 51 all year !!!!!" And that's about it for tonight, because I am going to watch a few more episodes of Northern Exposure.

My Fellow Americans!

Today has been so much fun, because we met our fabulous friends aka best dog-walking volunteers in Texas, at the Thai O'cha Restaurant, to celebrate Tony's birthday.

Tony and I were the first to arrive at, The Best Thai Food Restaurant, in Kerrville. And because we had just picked up a few groceries, at the big H-E-B, I suggested that we wait a few minutes, inside Trigger, before going inside. And while we waited I thumbed through the new H-E-B TexasLife recipes and fresh ideas, August 2016 and I found several healthy, delicious-looking recipes that I want to try in the near future.

A few minutes later, we climbed out of Trigger and as we were walking towards the entrance, our dear friends Kris & Jim pulled into the parking lot, so we waited for them to join us. After howdies, I asked, "Kris, weren't those Hans Freitag Wafers with cocoa cream filling delicious?"

Kris & Jim laughed, and Kris said, "Yes. In fact I am blaming you for an added pound...." Then Kris handed me this DVD, and said, "We finally remembered to bring this with us. It is so funny. You'll love it."

"Oh great!" I said. "I love Jack Lemmon, Dan Ackroyd and especially James Garner. I am going to watch it today...."

When the four of us walked inside this friendly restaurant with great vibes and delicious Thai food, our friends Ju and Song greeted us and then showed us to our table for eight.

Eileen arrived next and after howdies she put Tony's birthday cake on our table. And then she teased Tony about him getting older.

The she handed me this magazine. "This is for you, Nancy. I thought that you would enjoy reading about the Apple Store's SPJ Burger making the 50 Best Burgers, in Texas. It's on page 89."

Then I thanked Eileen for giving me the magazine and that's when Lisa joined us. And within a minute she had all of us laughing out loud with her latest news. And then a few minutes later, Kay and Sarah joined our party of eight.

After Ju had served us our drinks and had taken our orders the real fun began as we caught up with each other's news. Kris showed us adorable pictures of their new grandson. Eileen and Kris & Jim talked to Tony about turning 62 and being eligible to get Social Security. I talked about Sunday's surprise Black Helicopters fly-by and us twice, in the past few months, seeing mysterious, white, unmarked eighteen-wheelers caravanning fast down Hwy. 16 towards Medina.

Then we started discussing Tiny Houses and that's when we learned that Sarah actually lives in one. "Oh my goodness!" I said. "I love the Tiny House movement and I watch tv shows, read books about them and I check them out, on the Internet almost everyday...."

Following our delicious as always, fun lunch, Eileen lit the candles, on Tony's birthday cake and we sang the Happy Birthday song to him. And to our surprise "my old man" blew out both candles on his very first try. "Way to go, Tony!"

It is 6:20, and Kinky has just called me to ask me to come over to meet some friends of his that are visiting him, so I guess that I had better wind this up, because I told him that I would be over there in five minutes.

So, to say the least about Tony's birthday party, "It was a total blast and Tony loved it and especially the hilarious birthday cards and delicious cake." And before I must go and forget, sweet Lisa baked Tony her famous, delicious Banana Bread and he's saving it for tomorrow, but I have no idea how long it will last, because we love Lisa's delicious Banana Bread.

As soon as I get back from Kinky's I am going to spend my evening, with Little Debbie and Big Al(ice) sleeping on my lap, while I watch My Fellow Americans."

Y'all have a great evening and keep on laughing!

The Dog Days of Summer!

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and today have been the dog days of Summer as far as I am concerned.  About a month ago, on one of our hot Texas days, I had a scare, but thank goodness it wasn't a bad scare. It was more like a warning.

I had been outside giving a very nice couple a tour of our rescue ranch and after I had adios-ed them I came back inside The Cabin.

Once inside our air conditioned trailer I was relieved to finally cool off and the first thing that I did was get myself a glass of water, because I was so thirsty. Then I sat down in front of my computer and when I tried to type, my hands were trembling and it really scared me, because this has never happened to me before.

I drank another glass of water and then I went and told Tony about my hands shaking. "It's probably heat related, Nance. Are you feeling dizzy or sick to your stomach?"

"Nope."

"That's good," Tony said. "You probably got yourself dehydrated. Go drink another glass of water and and rest."

I did what Tony told me to do and about an hour later, I was totally back to normal—no more trembling hands—thank goodness. Anyway, since that little scare I've realized that at my age I have become more sensitive to the heat, which is a very common thing that happens to senior citizens. So now I monitor myself when I go outside, because I don't want to have that happen to me again or worse have a heatstroke.

Since Monday I've basically spent my time indoors doing boring things like doing rescue ranch paperwork, cleaning the trailer, running errands, in Kerrville, or returning important phone calls and e-mails. And that, not having anything interesting to write about and being troubled with what has been going on in our world is the reason why I've not posted anything since last Sunday.

Today has been great, but uneventful, once again, unless you count going to the little H-E-B. to get dog food and groceries. And the good news is I do know that tomorrow will be a lot of fun and tomorrow night, I promise I'll have something interesting to write about it.

Y'all have a great evening, keep on laughing and stay cool!
