Gerry Olert, Chris, Eileen holding Little Debbie, Jim, Suzanne, me, Kris, Bob, Chet, Lisa, Kinky, Wendy, Sally, Stephen & Hollin!

Today has been great and so was our weekend. Last Friday all of our great friends/volunteers met at the Thai O'Cha restaurant so we could celebrate Suzanne's and Chris' birthdays and Eileen brought the cutest duel birthday cake. And to say the least, our food was delicious and we had a lot of fun.

Chris, who played Ferg, in our Longmire—Texas Style video, is standing 2nd from the left and Suzanne, who played a cowgirl, inside the Grey Goose Saloon, is standing behind me,  to the right of Jim who played Longmire. I know this is getting a little confusing, so I am just going to list our friends from left to right that starred in our funny Longmire—Texas Style spoof.

And if you would like to see more pictures of the cast and crew I suggest that you watch my slideshow Longmire—Texas Style Behind The Scenes.

Last Friday, after the fun birthdays party, we came straight home, because we knew that our dear friend, Chet O'Keefe, was coming to see us, after his long three-week tour of Canada with friend Sarah Burton. And we had a fun visit with Chet, before he and his dog, Willie, took off for Washington state, Saturday afternoon.

After we adios-ed Chet and Willie, Tony took off too, so he could go fetch our mail. And I got got the cutest and the sweetest card, from a woman named Wendy, thanking us for rescuing her old Pit Bull that had run off during a thunderstorm.

But first let me fill you in. Last month, while I was out in Terlingua with Cindy, Ronnie & Nita, Kinky had rescued a Pit Bull that was in a field near Highway 16. So when I got home from my fun trip, Tony told me all about Kinky's rescue.

So when we got back home, I went and met this lovely, sweet, old girl and I named her Sally Field, before we took her, to Hoegemeyer Animal Clinic, to get a check up and her shots, etc.

Well, it turned out that Sally had heart worms, so they treated her. Several days later, when we were going to go pick up Sally, Tony walked into the kitchen, and said,  "Nance, Sally is such a great dog, I'm sure she belongs to someone, so would you call the Pound to see if anyone is missing a Pit since last week?"

When I called the Pound, the nice woman told me that a Pit Bull, fitting her description had been reported missing since last week and she gladly gave me Wendy's phone numbers.

Then I called Wendy and told her that we thought we had her dog and that Sally had just been treated for heart worms. Wendy was so happy I'm pretty sure that she started crying as she kept thanking us.

Wendy told me that her two dogs had run away, during an intense thunderstorm and that her little dog had safely returned home, but not her Pit. After telling her that she could pick up her dog, at Hoegemeyers, she said, "Please call them and tell them I am on my way now..."

An hour later, after eating a fun lunch with Jim aka Longmire, at Billy Gene's Restaurant, we stood outside the restaurant and called Hoegemeyer Animal Clinic, to find out if Sally Field was the woman's lost dog.

And to make a long story short, Susan told me, "Yes! Wendy and I guess her son came and picked her up and when Sally came into the lobby and saw her family, she went crazy trying to get to them and they started crying. And Nancy, the woman paid for the heart worm treatment..." This is a picture I took of Sally Field when we took her to Hoegemeyer Animal Clinic.

Yesterday afternoon, Tony and I jumped inside Buttermilk and took off for The Auslander, in Fredricksburg, because our dear friend, Stephen K. Morris, was hosting another one of his great "The Outsider Songwriter Spotlight" with his awesome musician friend, Hollin McKay

Tony and I had a blast watching and listening to their great music and Stephen even took a minute to introduce us to the standing room only crowd and he plugged our rescue ranch. Here is a picture that I took while they were performing on stage. Stephen is on the left.

And this one is Stephen's trunk with our bumper sticker on it.

During a break, Stephen introduced us to Hollin and I told him that I had and loved his and his brother's first album, which they had cut, in 1994. Anyway, I hope y'all will check out Stephen's awesome Songwriter Spotlight shows held every Sunday, from 4:00 to 7:00.

Y'all have a great evening and keep on laughing!

Private Pot Pie Pan Party!

Today has been great and Tony and I are so rested, from our super fun, exciting weekend, that we actually did some mowing today. We still have plenty of mowing to do tomorrow before the rescue ranch is once again beautiful and we've got to get it done early, because Henry Standing Bear and I are meeting our good friends, Marguerite and Scout, at Wild Birds Unlimited, so they can show Henry and me how to get to his and Scout's private, clicker-dog-training classes.

And Henry is very excited about attending his first class with Scout and I am kind of nervous, because I hope my reflexes will be fast enough to click and give an instant treat to Henry. But actually, it doesn't really matter, because I know it will be a lot of fun doing the classes with Marguerite.

Okay, yesterday I did a short post about Tony's and my super fun weekend, because I was so pooped, so now I will catch y'all up to speed.

Friday night around 9:00 our dear friend, Chet O'Keefe and his cool dog, Willie, arrived at the rescue ranch and Chet, Tony and I stayed up late, so we could catch up with each others news.

Late Saturday morning, after Tony did the chores outside, I cooked breakfast for us and then we packed Trigger up with video props and Chet's guitar. Then we took off, around 11:15 to go meet Gerry Olert, in Bandera, so he could follow us to the secret location, so he and Chet could set up their  video and music equipment, so Gerry could film and record Chet playing his music/sound track, for our video, before 1:00, when the rest of the cast was scheduled to arrive.

By 1:15, all of us were in full costume, including Little Debbie and then Gerry's camera started rolling (Even though he was actually using digital cameras that don't roll.). And the rest is history or will soon to be history.

Here are just a few of the pictures that Tony took of some of the cast and crew, hanging out after all was said and done. And the reason, that I can't show all of the cast members is because they were dressed in full costume and we want the ending to be a surprise when it first Premiers, at our Private Pot Pie Pan Party.

Later in the day, when Chet, Tony, Little Debbie and I got back home we spent the evening visiting and then we watched a movie.

Sunday morning, the three of us ate breakfast and then we relaxed and sat back and watched the great movie Chef, while Chet's clothes washed and then spun around, inside the dryer, so he could pack them for his upcoming Canadian Tour with Sarah Burton.

A few hours later Chet packed up his guitar and clothes, etc. and then he took off to go to the Auslander, in Fredricksburg, to play his awesome music for Stephen K. Morris' first Singer Songwriter Spotlight event. And thirty minutes later, Tony and I jumped inside Trigger and took off for Fredtown.

Omg! Tony and I had so much fun at the Auslander. The place was packed and the vibes were beyond great. Our dear friends: Steve Pietzsch, Kris & Jim, Evie and us all got to sit up front, at a big, long table along with some of Stephen's & Eva's great friends.

Stephen K. Morris' and Chet's music was totally awesome and the crowd could not get enough of it. Stephen did a fabulous job being the host of his three hour show with Chet. Stephen told some hilarious stories and it was so much fun to watch him and Chet joke back and forth with each other. And here are just a few of Tony's pictures that he took at Stephen K. Morris' first Singer Songwriter Spotlight event, at the Auslander.

A little after 7:00, this cool music event ended and all of us hung out for a few minutes. And after hugs and handshakes Chet adios-ed us and then he took off for San Antonio, because this morning he caught a plane up to Maine, to visit with his family before crossing over the Canadian border to kick off his and Sarah's Canadian music tour.

I wish that all of y'all could have been at the Auslander, to watch and enjoy listening to Stephen's and Chet's great music. And that's about it for tonight. Life is good.

Y'all have a great evening!

We Had Visitors From Afar! or A Really Big Crush!

Yesterday and today have been so much fun for Tony and me, because yesterday we had visitors from afar and they weren't Aliens, even though I would love to have Aliens, like Bob, come visit me.

Our first visitors yesterday arrived around 3:30. They were Philip & Cheryl, these super nice professors of literature, who drove all of the way from Kansas. And the main reason they came to see us was to drop off Harry's, (Philip's father) huge collection of first edition, signed Kinky books, posters and Kinky memorabilia etc., that Harry has generously donated to our rescue ranch, so we can sell them or auction them off to benefit Utopia Animal Rescue Ranch.

When Philip & Cheryl arrived it was misting outside, so Tony and Philip quickly transported Harry's boxes and framed posters to a safe place for us to store Harry's collection. Then we invited our new friends to come inside The Cabin for a really fun visit, because Harry had told me about how much his son and daughter-in-law love Terlingua and enjoy going to the Big Bend National Park.

So, as we sipped our teas or coffees, we became fast friends, because we had so much in common. Seriously, if one of us wasn't talking about Harry & Wanda, music, books or Big Bend then we were all laughing.

Unfortunately, they could only stay and visit for about an hour, because they needed to get back to their friend's house, in Austin, before dark-thirty, because they are spending their Spring Break attending Austin's famous, annual SXSW Music Festival.

Tony and I were having so much fun with them we hated to see them leave, but we hugged and adios-ed each other and bid them farewell.

An hour and a half later, Sarah Burton arrived and we hit it off instantly with her, too. Sarah Burton is an awesome singer/songwriter and musician who plays both the guitar and the piano, but not at the same time. She is from Canada and she has duel Canada/USA citizenship. And she has recently purchased some property, in Terlingua, while she was out there playing some gigs, in Terlingua.

Anyway, earlier this week, our dear friend, Chet O'Keefe, had sent me an e-mail about how she had become good friends with him and Jim Keaveny & his wife Anna Oakley, Haislip, Jamie, Mark, Shannon and the rest of our mutual friends. Then Chet told me that Sarah was going to San Antone and then up to Austin to play at SXSW, so he asked me how I felt about her making a stopover here and spending the night, before driving into the Alamo City to pick up her sister.

Chet also raved about what a great person and how nice she was and about how awesome her music was, so I immediately wrote him back and said, "...We would love to meet Sarah Burton and she is more than welcomed to spend the night here, in my pretty, pink, writing cabin..."

Last night, Tony and I had so much fun getting to know Sarah Burton. We quickly found out that we had much in common besides loving Terlingua and our mutual friends that live out there. And at one point, after showing her my guitar, I asked Sarah, while she was holding it, if she felt like playing a few of her songs for us. And she did!

Omg, Sarah Burton is one extremely talented singer/songwriter/musician and her beautiful voice, lyrics and skilled guitar playing totally mesmerized us including: Henry Standing Bear, Little Debbie and Big Al(ice). In fact, Henry made us laugh after she sang her first song, because Henry would not quit staring at Sarah, so I joked, "I think Henry has a really big crush on you."

Sarah left this morning after drinking coffee and eating breakfast with us and once again, we were sad to see her leave. But before she left she gave us two of her CD's, so we are now hooked on her great music, too. Sarah Burton is on Facebook and Twitter, so please check her out and her music. Here are two of her CD's that she signed to Tony, me & Henry, inside the jacket.

We met our dear friends/volunteers today, at the Thai O'Cha Restaurant, to celebrate Jim aka The Mineral Man's birthday and once again, Tony and I had a total blast. When we arrived Kris, Jim's super sweet wife, was Face Time-ing Jim, because she had to go out of town unexpectedly to go help her mother who was recovering from a bout of pneumonia. Anyway, Jim moved his iPhone slowly around our big table so we could all say howdy to Kris and her mom.

Of course, it goes without saying, that our lunch was totally delicious, as always and it was too much fun, because we laughed, joked and teased each other non-stop. And before we were served our delicious lunch, Eileen said, "Nancy and Tony, y'all's Henry Standing Bear is becoming very famous on the Internet." Then she passed her iPhone around for all of us to see what she had posted on Longmire's Official Posse's fan club site.

Eileen did this, because yesterday, after Tony had posted a cute picture of Henry Standing Bear on Tony's Facebook page, Eileen tagged it and then she posted the photo of Henry and Tony's selfie, on Longmire's Posse site and a whole lot of Longmire's loyal fans had—Liked it or had made cute comments about our Henry, that we named in honor of Lou Diamond Phillips' character.

After we finished eating lunch, our good friend Ju and staff came out singing the Happy Birthday song to Jim and carrying a candle-lit, beautiful German Chocolate cake, that Kris had pre-ordered from Creative Cakes By Sharon, that she had asked Eileen to pick up and bring to Jim's birthday party for her. And the least that I can say about this cake, because tonight's post is getting way too long is, "It was the best German Chocolate cake that any of us have ever eaten." And that's about it for tonight.

Y'all have a great evening!
