Off Of The Grid!

Today has been a great day! This morning, Kinky called me around eight-fifteen. "Nance, are you going to be around this morning?"

"Yes. Why?"

"Two men are coming out this morning, to discuss some business with me, and I want to show them the rescue ranch, and for them to meet you and Tony. How does that sound?"

"That's fine with me, but not before ten o'clock, please. I'm fixin' to do my five mile fast walk with Leslie, and then get cleaned up. Will that work?"

"Yes, I will see you in a little while. I've got to take this call. Bye."

Around ten-forty- five Kinky called, to tell me that they were headed our way. Three minutes later, Robert, Michael, Kinky, Tony and I went into Outer Space. Robert and Michael were two very interesting men, and I really enjoyed visiting with them. They stayed for about an hour, and then it was time for them to leave.

After they left, I fixed lunch for Tone and me. After cleaning up the kitchen, I did something that I have been wanting to do for months—I started editing my book, and it felt so good! I got to spend over three, uninterrupted hours, flying through my pages correcting this or changing that! I was on a roll, and the hours flew by faster than fast!

By four-thirty, I came out of my writer's trance, and realized that it was dark outside, but even darker inside the trailer! The solar lights on the front porch had even come on. We were fixin' to get some much needed rain! A few minutes later, there was a loud thunder clap, which in my world, means turn everything off, and then unplug everything—as fast as you can!

It only took me a minute to get us completely off of the grid, while Tone was outside putting a blue plastic tarp over Buttermilk's busted windshield!

As soon as T. had Buttermilk protected, he ran back to the front porch— then the thunderstorm arrived in full force, with its free light show, and hard blowing winds! Lightning was dancing all over the mountaintops, so we grabbed our cameras, and went into Outer Space, to hopefully capture a lightning strike, but unfortunately our reflexes are not lightning fast.

It rained for over two and a half hours at the ranch, and we got a little over a half of an inch of rain! I loved it, but not as much as the wildlife and the trees, etc.! And, the outside temperature dropped from one-hundred-two, on our front porch, to sixty-nine degrees! It felt like Fall.

Y'all have a great evening!

Oh, Nancy, I am so glad to hear about your healthy rain today. We got about 100 raindrops earlier this evening; but no cooler air. Even the Agaves are turning yellow.

Nancy could you bottle up some of that rain and send it our way?

Hi Cindy Lou! I wish I could, but it has already dried out here. I hope you get some rain soon. Hugs to Mater and Bridgett!
