Happy 12 Year Anniversary Rescue Ranch!

Today has been an okay day and a significant one. Nothing big happened though. I walked six miles this morning. Then I played with the Chihuahuas this morning while Tony cleaned pens and I must say that Fiona, Dustin Hoffman and James Dean are really great little dogs and I hope that they find their forever homes sooner than later.

Today is our rescue ranch's official twelve year anniversary! Kinky, Tony and I started the rescue ranch in May 1998 when Kinky came over to my mini-ranch in Utopia and proposed that the three of us start an animal rescue ranch. It took us three months to build the pens and to get the seed money, so we could start rescuing animals and somehow we did it.

Twelve years ago today, I drove Trigger, my old 1981 Chevy pickup, sixty-three miles from Utopia to Kerrville to meet up with Marcie and her friend, so we could go rescue the dogs at the Kerr County dog pound—and we took every dog. It seems like it has been over a hundred years since we did that, but yet it also seems like we just did it yesterday.

By the end of the Labor Day Weekend—we had rescued forty-one dogs from the area pounds and I will never forget the joy and excitement that I felt as we freed the dogs from death row. As we took the happy dogs from their cells to our crates in the back of my pickup and Marcie's convertible and drove them the one mile trip to Hoegemeyers Animal Clinic—the dogs were excited and their tails were held high and wagging non-stop as we walked them and carried them into Hoegemeyers Animal Clinic to be neutered, spayed, treated for ailments and given their shots. It was awesome to say the least.

Like Kinky and Tony, I love rescuing animals and I want to thank everyone that has supported our rescue efforts, because we would have never been able to live our dream without y'all's support and generosity. Kinky, Tony and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts for letting us rescue the dogs and the many animals and we hope to continue keep on rescuin' on! We love y'all!

Y'all have a great evening!
